Clarify Eyonix's Position on Siphon Life

Eyonix said this early Feb:

Q u o t e:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q u o t e:

I'm reading this as: you cast corruption, and it applies the SL debuff, which does the SL damage and returns health appropriately. Basically, it's one cast for 2 dots.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Correct <-- this is what Eyonix said.

So, instead of getting an in-forum ban gift by calling Eyonix a liar, we would rather like to know if:

1. Eyonix was not privy to the removal of the damage component of SL?

2. The damage component has yet to be added in the patch notes or PTR?

3. We, as a class, have been lead astray?

You realize, I hope, that one of the reasons politicians have to be so careful to say nothing at all when they speak publicly is because of the way people try and use their words against them. Nobody here wants to have to be so guarded about what we post. If I have to obsess over the nuance of every word and fact check the details one hundred times, then I am going to average only a couple of posts a week. That would be unfortunate IMO.

Our trying to announce what we are working on in advance is a good thing. Don't turn it into a bad thing. Our design process is very iterative and sometimes things change quickly. If you freak out too much when we change our minds or when we aren't sure exactly how something will work, then what that will eventually lead to is us saying nothing at all. :(

I try and shoot straight with you guys. I understand how it can go against every fiber in your being to give us the benefit of the doubt sometimes, but it might also make this whole experience easier on everyone. :)

PLZ GC UNLESS ITS CONFIRMED NUANCE YOURSELF TO DEATH AND DONT POST AT ALLLL

I can't tell if this is supposed to be sarcastic or not, but I strongly suspect most of the community would prefer to have constant information even if the information ends up changing. If you really want to wait for confirmation, you're going to get two rounds of information: the PTR and then Live.

Q u o t e:
There is nothing here that is ambigious or can be twisted. It was one question with a simple Y or N answer, which was delivered, yet the diameterically opposed action was implimented.

The initial statement was incorrect. But even if it was correct, we are going to change our minds on things. That didn’t happen in this case, but it certainly happens all the time. All of the rage over broken promises is nearly always going to be misplaced.

Q u o t e:
I've been giving Blizzard the benefit of the doubt since original Beta and it's been LOLRET ever since. I know this is a siphon life thread but I found this comment ironic. I've wanted to believe Ret can be competitive in PvP & PvE for 4 years but the constant development disappointments have given me little reason to give you the benefit of the doubt.

Comments like this are so interesting to me because you can find so many players who think Ret is at the right spot in PvE and possibly overpowered in PvP. Yet you completely disregard their opinion and then blame us because you don’t feel powerful enough. I know it’s impossible for there ever to truly be a consensus on a game of this magnitude, but you should at least ask yourself when so many people disagree with you what exactly is going on.

Q u o t e:
Are you saying that this was changed during development of 3.1? Essentially, confirm that originally you just linked the two DoTs together, then someone had the idea to delete Siphon Life entirely and not compensate for its damage anywhere else later on, and THAT change is what made it through to the 3.1 PTR. Answer with a yes or no (of course you can explain more, but you have to include a yes or no at the beginning).

It was only ever going to be one dot. But even if it was going to be two dots and we changed our minds, we would still be in the same place right now.

GC i wouldnt want your job. Enjoy your coffee cup full of gin or rum, i cant remember.

Oh it's rum and gin on days like this.
