Old name locked for 90 days? Help me on this.

Hi, I need some help on who to contact and how to resolve an issue regarding name change.
I'm not posting by the character that I recustomized and change my name on by the way, but one of my alts.

I had a paid character recustomization less than 55-60 days ago. I changed the way my character looked, from male to female, and I also changed my name. I just did the name change for fun.

It is my understanding that according to the terms that I read before I paid my $15.00 to do so:

"Once the name change is completed, your character's old name will be locked from use on the realm for 90 days. After that time, the old name becomes available again and can be claimed by anyone on its realm on a first-come, first-served basis. "

I recently browsed wowarmory.com and typed my old name and searched under the realm that I play in that someone is playing under my old wow character name. I don't understand how someone could take that name when the way I read and understand it even now is that the name is supposed to be locked for 90 days, after which time anybody can claim it. It hasn't been 90 days yet. And I have a copy of the emailed receipt transaction to prove so.

Granted I have not seen that name log in yet, but I just noticed it today that someone is playing under my old name in wowarmory.com even though it is supposed to be locked for 90 days.

if someone can answer how this is possible and how and who I should contact to resolve this issue, I would greatly appreciate it. If I knew that someone would take the name in less than 90 days I would have kept my old name. I had a sense of security knowing that I could change my name back after 90 days on a first come first serve basis.

Hrm, that does seem odd. Are you absolutely certain that the name you saw was not your current character listed under the old name? The Armory can update slowly, which may explain a situation of this nature.

Still, I'd like to investigate a bit further if possible. Can you provide me with both that character's current name, that character's old name, and the realm that character resides on?

Actually, I'm still looking into this.

I'll provide more information when I have it though!

So Mal, is has this been resolved and we just don't know about it? I'd love to hear the answer myself, as names are kind of important to me. :)

Fortunately, I was able to get a little more information.

It appears that this was an isolated issue wherein the normal naming lockout seems to not have applied as it should. Fortunately, there is every indication that this was a unique situation. Because of this, it did take some time to recover more information though, and I am sorry about the wait.

At this point, and since this doesn't appear to be widespread, the affected party can expect direct contact from our Billing department via their registered email address.

For clarity's sake: the investigation prompted by this issue indicates that the 90 day name lock-out should be intact for Paid Character Re-Customization as well as Paid Character Name Changes. If a character is deleted or transferred, then the name in question should be made available immediately as usual.

I don't see that you've contacted our Billing department — at least not from your registered address — regarding this issue.

Have you contacted them through other means?

It is unfortunate that you were not contacted; however, it would be your best bet to contact the department that Malkorix mentioned in regards to receiving assistance with this issue, rather than our other various departments. =)
