Alchemy in 3.1 ... a request

I don't know how much professions are going to expand in the next big content patch, but I would like to see more done with Alchemy for the alchemist.

JC's have their trinkets and epic gems for themselves. Blacksmiths have extra gem slots. Leatherworkers and Tailors have awesome armor enhancements for themselves.

What do alchemists have that uniquely buffs the alchemist? A few trinkets that can be replaced by loot from heroics. Oh and our elixirs can last twice as long.

>> edit: forgot to mention the stat increase from Mixology. Ok, but JC epic gems still offer bigger benefits and they don't have to farm mats every day just to maintain their benefits. It seems obvious by the 5+ pages of responses in this thread that professions could be better balanced. >>

It would be great if alchemists could get something better that helps the alchemist. Some powerful, cheap Bind-On-Pickup flasks would be great.

It seems ludicrous that tanks lose 100 stamina by being an alchemist instead of a JC, or that a damage class loses XX dps by not being a crafter.

As one poster pointed out, you get mixology. In addition to allowing for two-hour elixir and four-hour flask durations, you get extra stat points from flasks and elixirs.
