Just starting, Game isnt what i expected.

Hello, I just recently purchased this game and the exspanion(10-17-14). I have never played this game before, and i had never watched any actual gameplay of it. Now my roomate who is a vetern at WOW (6 years) convinced me to finally play this. I was talking about how i liked Runescape with its grinding system of leveling up skills, and just my interest of trying to get all of the Diablo 3 achievements, and he said WOW had all of that.

Fine, im sold. It sounded like everything i wanted. 1st thing he said was how Pandaria had some speacial thing going on where you could lvl up to 600 there, i didnt really understand what he meant, but i went there anyway and starting my Mining-Herbalism grind. After flying around a bit gathering things, i tried out a few quests. I Did all my grinding and quests in the Jade Forest. When i got to around lvl 120 in both, i asked how to lvl other skills. He said to simply talk to the trainer and it will replace 1. "Alright" i said, "no problem. But what if i want to do mining again afterwards?" Oh, he said, you will have to start over at lvl 1. WHAT? So then he explained that you cant lvl EVERYTHING to "max" like i thought when i first started. This severly hurt my motivation. I then told him whats the point in switching skills? So now i guess im doing Herbalism and mining to 600, and my grinding that i expected would take months would be over in a few days. So then i stopped and switched to quests.

After spending some time doing all of those, i finally finished them. I saw the cutscene and afterwards i waited for my achievement to pop. I looked into it and saw i needed Tian Monestary still to do. After flying back over there i cannot find any other quests to do there. I then looked to the internet and saw apparently the 1st achievement i decided to do was glitched. There were some posted ways to fix it, but none of them fixed it. I became very dissapointed and lost motivation to continue doing Pandaria at all, then another friend decided to cheer me up and took me to some "Timeless ISle" to get better gear.

He shows my the first "golden" chest. I get my stuff and we move on. After getting to the "2nd" chest that was surrounded by some fire guys, i ran over to it while he distracted them and when i opened it i saw my 3 purple items and got knocked back. Ran back to chest and now its empty?? No items in my inventory either. "Awesome...." i thought. My friend was upset this happened and did get me to a 3rd gold chest and i did get stuff from that. He then brought me to the pond in the middle of the map and i saw a chest under the water. I clciked on it and after it opened i saw the 3 items inside and then they dissappeared. No longer in the chest or my inventory...."Wow, this sucks" i thought. My friend then had me turn "auto-loot" on to hopefully fix this, but the items are still lost, and my motivation torwards this game.

I want to like this game, I really do. But my experience in the few days i played have all just been awful. Broken achievements, glitched chests, i just want to feel this "fun" that my friends have, but i just cant find it. Can someone help me understand this game better? I dont see the "grinding" in this game and until that achievement pops, i really dont want to do anything in Pandaria at all. The most i see me doing is just the new exspansion when it comes out for the main quest and thats about it. Please someone help me like this game.
