It is time to address in game casinos and get an official response from a Blue regarding the policy. There have been many threads from many people stating that have received conflicting reports on the ingame casino policy. No policy can be found anywhere at www.worldofwarcraft.com/policy and the only place you can find an official statement regarding this is a couple blue posts referencing posts that are almost 4 years old. I received this email today regarding the policy and it is NOT doctored in anyway.

Greetings <REMOVED>

Thank you for contacting the World of Warcraft Game Master Department.

Petition: I've run a legitmate casino for several weeks now. No one has ever been scammed. People keep saying its against the rules, however www.worldofwarcraft.com/policy says nothing about it being against the rules. What action can be taken against my account if any for running a casino>?

Answer: Currently we do not find legitimate In-Game casinos as a violation of our policies. These policies are always subject to change however, so I would recommend keeping posted on our forums for any future announcements and keeping familiar with our Terms of Service.

Should you require further assistance, please submit another help request the next time you are online. We hope you continue to enjoy your experience in World of Warcraft!

For any game play questions, please refer to our site at http://www.blizzard.com/support/wowgm/

*** Please do not respond to this email as all conversations on this matter would be best handled online. ***

Please give us an UPDATED official blue response to this. If it is against the rules can you please tell us why it is NOT listed under the policies in the ToU and why some GM's are torn on this issue. Thank you!

You, my dear, are everywhere. Every place I look to find more information on casino gambling, you're right there, posting your tired old quotes. Like I said in the other thread, did you ever stop to think maybe, just MAYBE the GM you're quoting is the one that's unclear on policies?

The casinos themselves aren't necessarily currently against our policies. It's kind of a catch 22 though, wherein the activities associated with running an in-game casino are potentially significant violations of our policies.

Long story short - it's a really bad idea to try running an in-game casino, and we'd counsel against it. Please do not be surprised if, despite a lack of policy on the casinos themselves, that other account actions result from associated activities, including scamming.

There are better ways to turn a profit and entertain oneself in-game.
