Unfortunately because of economic reasons I need to leave WoW for a bit (Mortgage > WoW) so I've cancelled my subscription.

I know my level 60 plus toons wont go anywhere and will be waiting for me when I get back, but will my lvl 1 bank alts stay or should I move all my gold and items from them to my higher lvl toons incase they get cleared out.

If you cancel your subscription today, Sparxs, your account will remain playable until your pre-paid time expires. After such a period, your account will simply become inactive; although you will be unable to log into the game client or forum set, access Account Management and its related pages will remain.

Also, when your account becomes inactive, all of your virtual property will go into a sort of stasis: personal characters and inventories will persist in the state in which you left them. Mail and auction items, though, will continue to expire as normal. So, if you plan on being away from the game for longer than 30 days, it's best that you cancel any active auctions and ensure that your mailbox is empty.

On this same note, if you aren't planning on returning for quite some time, it's best that you ensure that your account is secure before it becomes inactive. Regrettably, many of those who wish to exploit our game will often seek out inactive accounts, as it's likely that their owners will not become immediately aware of unauthorized access.

Here are some tips to bolster your account's security:

Hope that helps, my friend! And I hope to see you again soon. :)

Q u o t e:
What I'm getting at is should the unforseen happen and someone else tries to access my account to reactivate it will they need my authenticator to do so?

Absolutely. Your Authenticator will remain attached to your account—and will remain necessary for login—until you personally request its removal. :)
