Scamming Question

I'd love for a blue to review this post and tell us whether this event could be considered scamming. This has been happening regularly on our server. While I have not been a direct victim of these actions, some of my friends have. Any insight would be appreciated!

Tonight ****** of <*******> was raid leader of a PUG 25 VoA. At the beginning of the raid he assured everyone that looting would be fair, but once the boss was downed, he announced that raiders were to pay him for the drops via bidding a minimum of 125g. As a result, several people got completely screwed out of loot, as since they felt it was unfair to pay, he looted it to himself.

Even though it was "only VoA" which is not a difficult raid by any means, this kind of behaviour is disgusting and should not be encouraged by anyone. It's not funny, it's cruel, cannot be justified, and completely ruins the point of the game, to have fun.

Running a pre-arranged group where people KNOW they're expected to pay for gear, such as a guild carrying one player through a raid for a specific item such as a mount, is completely different and generally accepted. That's how a lot of people got their Armani War Bear. This situation is completely different, so don't even bother comparing the two.

If you **** or your guild needs gold that badly, I suggest working for it, or paying gold sellers if you're really that desperate. Taking advantage of undergeared players who might not otherwise get into raids is just effing low.

To everyone else, I suggest not grouping with ****** in the future, or with anyone from <*****>.

As with all things that may be considered a scam, each individual case must be investigated and addressed solely on the individual situation at hand. We will, and always have frowned upon any actions that one may use to obtain items or currency through deception, fraud or other illicit means.

These types of situations will be investigated accordingly; if it is found that ill-intent is at the forefront of the actions of those involved, we will address the matter appropriately. We do not take these situations lightly, and anyone found violating our Scamming policies will be dealt with harshly.

A scam is not to be confused with the common terminology of "Ninja-Looting" and those situations will be handled differently. As each issue is investigated fully, each investigation and situation will be addressed based upon the merit of each individual case.

If anyone believes they've been the victim of a scam, they are more than welcome to report it to our In-Game support staff so that it can be investigated accordingly.
