There's Gold In That There Fountain

I was fishing in the Dalaran fountain for coins and was pulling up quite a bit of them with no problem looting for the most part. I had one silver coin that I was unable to loot, but it didn't bother me too much because I had that one already. I kept on fishing.

I got the last gold coin (Uther Lightbringer's Gold Coin) for the "There's Gold In That There Fountain" achievement and was unable to loot it. Needless to say, I was a little disappointed.

I wrote a GM and was told to delete my WTF folder. I don't know how that would help, considering I was able to loot about 30-40 coins previously.

Anyone else know if this is a bug or if they plan on fixing it?

Thanks.

I haven't encountered any issues with looting this coin in particular before, so it may be a good idea to try reporting this via our Bug Report forum or an in-game petition. All the same, it can't hurt to try resetting your user interface, and then fishing up the coin in question prior to re-installing addons.

This process does wipe your addons, so it's probably a good idea to save your Addon folder in a separate location. Here are the steps:
Q u o t e:

1) *IMPORTANT* Exit the World of Warcraft to your desktop by logging out of the game and exiting. If World of Warcraft isn't closed, then these steps won't have the desired effect.

2) If you used an "installer" for a custom UI, see if it has an "uninstaller" and use it.

3) Inside the World of Warcraft Program Folder, delete the "WTF," "Cache," and "Interface" folders.

4) Restart your computer.

5) Please do not reinstall Addons prior to testing the issue you were experiencing.

6) Make sure that you are using WOW.EXE or LAUNCHER.EXE to start the game. Please do not run any UI installers beforehand, as we want to eliminate them as part of the issue.

7) Upon launching the game, you should see the Intro cinematic movie and be prompted to agree to the Terms of Use. Once you authenticate past the login screen, the “AddOns” button should no longer be visible at the lower left corner of the character selection screen. Both points mentioned previously must hold true if you should complete the aforementioned steps correctly.

Another note that may be worth mentioning with special fishing items (but probably not the case here since it was just one object).

Auto loot and fishing of special items don't always play together happily. I highly recommend not having auto loot on if you are fishing for special objects.
