What will Blizzard go back on next for money?

"We will never offer PVE to PVP server transfers." Now only $25!

"We're sorry, but you can not change your name willingly." Now only $10!

"We're sorry you no longer like your looks, you cannot change them." New haircuits only 7-13g!

"Yes we're doing haircuts, but we will never offer plastic surgery or sex changes." Now only $15!

So what's next?

My guess is they'll offer character exchanges when things get a little dry. As in Trade your 80 Shaman for an 80 Rogue, yet the Rogue will only have starting gear, such as the Death Knights. This cannot be undone.

Something a little less extreme would be something along the lines of race exchange.

Neither of these would be hard to do at all. E.g. Test Server Premades.

More often then not, we said that those features weren't something we were "currently" looking at. As time went on and players continued to desire these options, we simply made them available.

As for the cost component, many of these items took and take additional time, effort and resources to maintain. These charges help to offset this.
