Temporarily cancel account?

Hi Blizz - if I wanted to temporarily cancel my account, would I just use the normal "cancel recurring subscription plan" option in account management?

I would like to take a few months off, and return later this spring. If I cancel the account, how long will the character remain before it gets deleted? Or is the only way to keep the character intact to continue the subscription?

I think many believe that the cancellation process is related the status of one's physical account. In truth, you are simply canceling the account's current subscription plan.

With that said, once an account's subscription is canceled and left over pre-paid time expired, the account will simply become inactive. All related virtual property (the account, its characters, etc) will remain in our databases indefinitely.

When you are ready to return to World of Warcraft, simply visit Account Management and resubscribe. :)

It's also advised that you secure your account and computer system before canceling. As you are not likely to check up on your characters while on break, it's important to make sure that they are protected prior to your leave. :)
