Get some dev input on the reasoning behind arcane mages atm? My fresh level 80 mage with 1300 spell power can one shot my holy paladin with 700 resilence and 16k health. I don't have a problem with the way they changed arcane blast. I just think they needed to divide their previous damage in half first.

edit: First, thanks for responding, I'm looking forward to whatever you plan to announce, just knowing that you have it in mind helps. Second, to people saying mage are fine, l2p, etc, I would just like to say that I'm currently ranked in the top 10 world for dks, and I was a gladiator on my pre-wotlk character as well(a shaman if you care).

Now here is how you beat any class as an arcane mage in maximum, 5 gcds.
1. cast slow
2. cast arcane blast 4k non crit
3. cast arcane blast 5k non crit
4. PoM arcane blast 10k crit (pretty reliable when used with arcane potency
5. if they are still alive, Barrage 6k non crit

thats 26k damage from a 1300 spell power mage in 5 gcds, only 4 of which were for damage. With only 1 crit. Now imagine a mage with 2k+ spell power, with a decent crit rate. you're seeing over 30k easy. We're not even going into the 16k pyro crits mages can get. Now here's the screenshot to prove it:

I have 540 resilence, he has 1300 spell power, feel free to armory either of us. Both on boulderfist server, magtos and rngesus.

We have said we think burst is too high in PvP and we are working on changes. You can come up with different theories for why different classes are doing so well in PvP at the moment. Arcane mages can do a lot of damage in very few GCDs. Rogues can do a lot of damage quickly to CC'd targets. Death knights (probably more so before 3.0.8) had a lot of suvivability and paladins still have a lot of survivability.

We don't want to announce changes here and there throughout various forum threads. When we are ready to announce the changes, you won't miss them.
