Beta Realm Maintenance - 9/18/14

Greetings All!

The Beta realms are currently shutting down for maintenance in order to deploy a new build. I'll be updating this thread with information and time estimates as I receive them. I don't have an ETA yet, but these pushes usually take at least 8 hours, if not more.

I'll be leaving this thread open for general discussion as long as people remain civil and follow forum rules.

There's a bit of a misconception that large updates/builds require more downtime, when in reality there's almost no correlation.

So you can push new builds 2 days in a row, but you were content to let us be unable to pick herbs and mine ores for 10 full days. I'm really disappointed that you don't seem to put much of a priority on professions.

There are hundreds of things behind the scenes that are in motion here, although I understand that you folks don't have visibility into that so it can be confusing or frustrating at times. Sometimes a fix isn't immediate. so even if we pushed a build the next day, there's no guarantee we could get the one or two issues dear to you fixed in that window.

On a related note, maintenance is still ongoing. Thanks for being patient.

The new build (18898) will be deployed to your app shortly. ETA 45 minutes. I'll ping the thread once that's all done.

Looks like the build is being deployed now - please close any running Game Clients, restart your battle.net app, and let me know if there are any issues.

Realms are still offline btw, this is just the update to your battle.net app.

Looking into the retrieving character list issue.

I completely understand your frustrations folks, not only with downtime and maintenances, but also with login issues and instability in general. Rest assured we've got a team of Database Admins and Server Engineers who put in a lot of hours investigating and fixing issues. We're not always able to fix things instantly, but that doesn't mean we're not trying.
