Patch Notes....Missing info.

Is there any real reason to omit many many changes in the patch notes? Some i can understand as some are little, minor changes that don't really affect play. However for example, adding sockets (especially a meta one) onto the Titansteel Helm, or even more so, removing the required Aqual Quintessence for Molten Core, to me, is HUGE!

I'm not arguing these changes, not in the slightest. I simply fail to understand why many changes are omitted altogether.

From the Web version of the notes:

Live Patch Notes Disclaimer: While we make every effort to include all upcoming changes in our patch notes, please be aware that occasionally some changes are unintentionally omitted.

We do what we can to include as much information as possible though there are things that slip through on occasion.

Thank you for your quick response Nethaera. Great to see you guys on top of things.

I suppose adding every little change would make quite the long patch note page. ;)

We've had some very very long patch notes in the past (one as long as 26 pages in Word). It's not that we're trying to cover anything up or purposefully omit anything. We do what we can to keep as much pertinent information in the notes as possible and should something not make it into the build notes themselves (the one you see when patching), we try to make sure to update on the web notes or forum post notes when we can.

Has anyone seen a blue post anything about the DK howling blast c/d not being removed per the patch notes?

Neth: Can you address this? Was it overlooked? Did the Dev's change their mind? What's the deal?

Let me see if I can get more information on this for you.

Here's some more information that some people were looking for:

Q u o t e:

From the patch notes:

Howling Blast: Cooldown removed.

That's why I asked about it and Neth said she will see if she can get information on it. Have you seen something posted that indicates the patch notes are wrong and that they "intended" to make it have a 5sec c/d?

and here- http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=14318937445&postId=143174807092&sid=1#7

Q u o t e:
I believe the cooldown is 5 seconds now, so at least it should mesh a little better with 10 second rune cooldown.

We knew there was a risk in taking the Howling Blast cooldown off. Unfortunately, we saw dual-wield DK numbers as high as ever even with the Killing Machine and Gargoyle nerfs. It typically only happened when the DK was fighting multiple targets, which suggests Howling Blast is the right thing to change.

We still agree that a cooldown makes rotations more awkward, and we will continue to look for an implementation that lets Howling Blast be off a cooldown without all death knights feel like they need to DW Frost or go home.

(And no, we can't buff other DK specs and other classes to 7000 dps or whatever to compensate.)

Q u o t e:
Howling Blast has a 5 sec cooldown. There is a tooltip error where it appears that the spell has no cooldown, but the game will still enforce one.

Sorry for the inconvenience. We plan on getting the tooltip corrected as soon as we can.

In regard to the Vengeance stacking - http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=14318637232&postId=143174806287&sid=1#1

Q u o t e:
We made that change (stacking Vengeance to 5) when we were worried that we needed to give Ret some kind of compensation in PvE for nerfing them in PvP.

Since then, we have seen some very high PvE numbers for Ret (read: too high) and arguably they aren't even nerfed much in PvP. Despite all the fears about TO THE GROUND, I think in retrospect it wasn't.
