Update- 12:30 PM PST- 1/26-

Death Knight creation is now available on Wyrmrest Accord and Winterhoof. Grizzly Hills and Borean Tundra currently are not available for death knight creation.

Update- 9:50 AM PST

Death Knight creation is now available on all eligible realms. Please read the FAQ for more information on death knight creation.

Grizzly Hills and Borean Tundra currently are not available for death knight creation. Character creation is currently locked on Wyrmrest Accord and Winterhoof.

Update- 11:30 AM PST

We are continuing to work on allowing death knight creation on all eligible realms per the creation rules for death knights and will provide further updates as soon as they are available.

Update- 3:30 PM PST

Please be aware that select players are currently able to create death knights on realms other than the one they currently have a level 55+ character on while others are still unable to do so at this time. We are currently working to address this issue and anticipate this to be corrected as of tonight’s rolling restarts. We will post additional updates after the completion of the restarts.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was anticipated that with the release of the current patch, 3.0.8, players would be able to create a new death knight on any realm within their region. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, we are not able to make this available as of yet. We do anticipate making this available in the near future and will do our best to keep everyone informed of when this becomes available.

Please keep in mind that when implemented restrictions will still apply to new, non-transfer realms such that death knights cannot be created on those realms until you level a character to level 55 on that realm or until transfer restrictions are removed.

If you have any further questions on creating a death knight, please see the FAQ.

Is the anticipated correction that no players will be able to create death knights on any realm or that all players will be able to (provided a level 55+)?

It should be made available to all. (Exceptions on death knight creation still apply.) We'll update everyone on the status once we know more after the restarts.

So will we be able to keep the DK's we rolled before the restriction was reinstated?

We are working on making it possible for anyone to create a death knight not just select players/realms.

This is not working on Fizzcrank for some reason. Fizzcrank is listed as eligible for transfers according to https://www.worldofwarcraft.com/account/character-transfer-realms.html

Other realms I have tried worked (tried Drenden and Argent Dawn), but not this one.

I deleted the WTF folder and logged in my 80 first, but it still doesn't work.

Thanks for the information. We're still keeping an eye on things and will provide an update when we can.

Just keep in mind that some newer realms may still be locked for death knight creation.

How can we tell which realms are locked for DK?

Borean Tundra, Winterhoof, and Wyrmrest Accord are all good examples of the newer realms that the ability to create death knights is not open for as of yet. I'll see if perhaps we can do a double-check on ineligible realms (at current) and let people know so there isn't further confusion.

Interesting. I also was not able to create a DK on Fizzcrank, which is listed as eligible, however I _was_ able to create a DK on Area 52, which is listed as _not_ eligible. So, errr, umm...

We'll take a look at it. Thanks for the information.

Just so everyone is aware, we are still working to correct some issues that are affecting death knight creation for some (eligible) realms. We'll provide further updates when they are available.

i have a question though im not sure if its been answered before (theres a lot of pages here)

do we get to keep the dk's we've made so far on other realms?

Yes. They're not being taken away. We're trying to make sure everyone who is eligible to create one can.

Regardless of Blizzs' statement on the log-in screen, it's still not working.... lvls 76, 70 and 70 on Hellscream and 69 on Wyrmrest..... cannot create a DK on Grizzly Hills... get the must have a lvl 55 character error....

Grizzly Hills and Borean Tundra currently are not available for death knight creation as of yet. These are still relatively new realms.

For those that may still have an issue creating a death knight, please try logging into a 55+ character first and then try again. If that doesn't work, please let us know so we can investigate further.

so do we still have to have a level 55 character to make a death knight?

You must have at least one 55+ character in order to create a death knight.

Could you update the first post with a list of realms where you are not supposed to be able to create one?

Sure thing.
