How did Arcane Barrage make it through beta?

Arcane was a horrible pve spec and a severely overpowered pvp spec, how was it able to make it through beta?

What is the purpose of Arcane Barrage? All it does is allow the most durable clothie and caster in general 100% mobility, putting every other class at a severe disadvantage.

Mages have essentially become ret paladins with a 35 yard range. We have been calling for nerfs since beta and there are still none in sight. Can you please give us some kind of update? When is this ridiculous spec going to be nerfed.

A serious discussion on Arcane Barrage and the mage class are totally appropriate topics. Complaining that Blizzard didn't listen to you is not. Please do not ruin potentially good threads.
