@ GC in Titles = Bad (Thread Title Reminder)

I just thought I'd touch base with everyone briefly to remind you all that it is not necessary to put Ghostcrawler, @GC, @Blue, Blizzard, or any other names in titles to get our attention. Please don't do this.

From the Forum Guidelines- http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=82238231&sid=1

Q u o t e:
Using the words Blizzard, Blue, or any community team members name in a thread topic is frowned on. Everyone would like Blizzard to read and acknowledge his or her post, and we understand that. However, use of such words in the topic does not help that come to pass. Please make your thread title relevant to the post subject.

While we can take the time to edit these extraneous things out of post titles, it wastes time that we could be doing other things and as the Guideline states, adding these things into your title is no guarantee that you'll get a response. We read what we can and post where we can.

Please remember that these forums are for discussion amongst yourselves as well as a place where we can jump into a discussion. Please don't focus all of your posts on attempting to get specific Blizzard attention. If necessary, we will delete these threads rather than editing the title for you. We would like to avoid taking this measure.

Thanks you.

Dang Neth, quick on that delete button.
Seriously though, did you just edit every post on the first page?
I think it's really too late to start enforcing this, as the precedent has been set.

It's never too late. The forum rules have been there all along. This is just a gentle reminder.

Noted and understood, but that doesn't change the fact that the forum rules are noted and will be enforced.

Woot! now we got blue posts complaining about GC!!!

I'm guessing the Candle is the horde and GC is the alliance now..

Lets all get popcorn and watch.

Word pretzels are fun. Keep twisting them and let's see who comes out unscathed. ;)

I can understand wanting to keep posts with all caps titles or whatever off the forum, but threatening to delete posts because of something like this strikes me as awfully finicky. Who cares? Any intelligent person can see that this has little if any effect on which threads Ghostcrawler chooses to post in.

We've always enforced asking posters not to put these things in the title. Sometimes we slack off a bit when it's not a big habit. It's becoming a big habit though and cluttering the forum. That just means a reminder to everyone to please keep the forum guidelines in mind when creating their titles.

This isn't open to debate and I'm not saying this to be hard on anyone. I'm just letting people know that it's not the best way for posting. We'd much rather NOT delete a good thread when possible.

A little late to the game, but hopefully it helps out.

Are these titles acceptable

@Crab
@Crustacean
@The most delicious food in the sea
@That which fears the pot
@Gin-lover
@Insomniac "The guy never seems to sleep"

No. Sorry.

Q u o t e:
Please send the WoWWiki people a better picture. The one they have of you looks like either A) you're about to laugh in someone's face or B) you just dropped something really frigging heavy on your toes. =P

That picture was nearly three years ago and I was sick with the flu I had picked up at the Comic-Con. I'm Ok with it though. It's not my favorite picture, but I can't deny it exists as much as I'd like to.

Also, if you feel you have suggestions for moderation or feedback on Community Team performance, please feel free to email to wowcmfeedback@blizzard.com .

I am going to try and stop responding to threads with my name in the title. It's unfortunate to let a bad title kill a potentially good thread, but we just think it has gotten out of hand.

Not crazy about ALL CAPS posts either. :)

I read every thread in these forums. There is no need to draw my attention to them. I cannot post in every thread, even every good one.

Is it a ban-able offense..?

OR

Is it just something you don't like? Hence the words "Frowned on".

Cause if it's just something you don't like, I also don't expect it to stop anytime soon.

It can be bannable depending. If we see a trend of specific intent to ignore our request, then it can be bannable.

Q u o t e:
Nethaera is just jealous that there aren't any "@Neth" thread titles =P

I cry at night when my ego isn't fed. Why do you want to hurt me so?

Q u o t e:
You as CM's fix this, not the posting playerbase, by only responding to threads without your names in the title, and by locking, banning or ignoring players that spam your avatar names

We're working on it. ;) Keep in mind I am a member of the Community Team, Ghostcrawler is a member of the Development Team. While he could technically take the time to edit titles so he can respond to them, it adds on extra time that he's not working on other game related issues to the time he's on the forum. While I know you all love getting to talk to him and vice versa, that's a big time commitment too. Please help him be able to respond to you by not putting his name in the title (or any other Blizzard employee). Ok?

Q u o t e:
The greatest offender here is GC himself. Neth, please ban him according to your rules.

He might nerf me. And his only offense is that he's trying to answer questions and help out. If everyone remembers to be careful about their titles, he won't have to worry about some trifle such as whether he's answering a thread with a bad title.

While we're on the subject of inappropriate threads...

Any chance harder moderation can be done for people not posting constructive posts? As of late, I hate coming to these forums because of the mood they put me in since I'm not allowed to fill my coffee cup with anything but coffee while at work.

It's pretty specifically defined what is constructive on these forms and the duplicate posts of classes complaining without any constructive feedback on how it can be fixed or adjusted is getting old. I would love to see a moderator come through here (maybe hire someone from EJ?) who would moderate the threads on a level of quality.

It would be a full time job, but you're really pushing off the valid input of players or the input gets washed out because of it. This is costing GC and Blizzard time and time = money.

Feel free to report threads that are non-constructive/trollish etc. The Moderation Team will get to it if one of the Community Team don't.
