So what is it Blizzard?

Your wording keeps changing about 3.0.8 fixing raid latency issues. The sticky in General reads:

Q u o t e:
that will address both the latency and disconnection issues affecting players while in that zone. These optimizations will be included with the next minor content patch.

Now the response in CSR is:

Q u o t e:
and hope to have resolutions in place with patch 3.0.8.

So what is it Blizzard? Is it really being fixed? Or is it a prayer that this will be fixed? The raiding community has been more than patient with you and I feel like we need a clear answer. Make sure all the blue posters have the same answer, can we please get a clear answer on this issue?

Thank you.

What exactly do you think they'll say?

Of course they're trying to fix an issue, and while they would like to guarantee that the next fix will sort it out, no-one is going to do that because players like you will be all over the forums with "BILZARD LIDE TO M3!" posts if something goes wrong.

No, in business you do everything you can to resolve an issue but you never give an absolute guarantee that a fix will resolve a complex issue. Even if it does in testing, there are plenty of things that can fail in practice.

This about covers it. I don't see a direct contradiction in the wording of the two quotes listed in the original post. Game Masters do not have direct knowledge of the testing progress on optimizations to reduce latency and disconnections, so they'll do their best to refrain from using absolute language if it can come back to hurt them. Every blue response is etched harshly into the series of tubes for all to see, whether right or wrong, for good or for bad.

I think what is more important to take into account is the fact that we are very aware of the performance issues players are experiencing, particularly in Naxxramas. The goal is to fix it, and this will remain the goal until it is fixed.

You keep working on those clams demounting me when I open them, don't worry about PVP balance though, that can wait.

You wouldn't want our dedicated "clam developer" to worry about PvP balance. His expertise is solely related to virtual bivalve mollusks.

May I ask why this issue wasn't deemed urgent or severe enough to decouple the fix from the 3.0.8 patch and release it sooner?

It would still require a patch. Localizing, testing, and implementing a patch for all regions is a little more complicated than that, hence why the optimizations were slated to be included with the next minor content patch.

IMO, game playability issues need to take great precedence over game balance issues and need to be addressed with great immediacy when they appear.

We probably don't disagree on this. There's still a distinction to be made between absolute urgency, and unreasonable demands based on a lack of information on how game development and testing work.

I do want to thank you Zarhym for the response, it is appreciated even if it wasn't what I wanted to hear =P

I completely understand, Berrorth, though I thank you for your understanding. :)
