ATTN: Error 202 (WotLK Upgrade)

Hey all,

After fighting with billing services and attempting to find a solution on this forum through numerous other threads created with the same problem i found the solution.

If you get error 202 after putting your credit card info while attempting to upgrade to WotLK... do this:

Enter the last four digits of your credit card in as your area code

Thanks to lack of billing support and technical errors i had to figure this out myself and feel the need to share my findings with anyone else in an equally frustrated state. Hope i helped someone.

The Error 202 message indicates that our system is unable to successfully upgrade an account. This can occur for a number of reasons like being able to contact the financial institution or the system flagging the charge as suspicious as examples.

When this message occurs the recommendations we can make are to try a different form of payment, purchase a copy of the software in store, or contact your financial institution to see if there could be an issue with the card.

This is not something the Billing & Account Services department can recommend, as it is not something that is meant to work. When our system asks for your information, it is so we can verify it with the financial institutions information. Putting in the last four digits of a credit card is not a secret work around that makes your transaction process, and in fact can cause a transaction to not successfully process.
