*Algar (not Arugal, oops)* bugged, GM no help

This is an issue and an issue with an issue's handling.

So, (did a search previously) Storm King's Vengeance, got started, headed to dragon Arugal. Killed dragon via throwing lots of giants at him and basically kiting. Arugal's hit points went out, dragon despawned... no kill credit. Waited for respawn, tried again... no kill credit, checked forums, abandoned grabbed quest again, killed him (tediously) again... no kill credit.

Filed GM ticket and went to bed, depressed. This is what I got as my ticket reply (stripping names)... I'm pretty sure I just mentioned Arugal as bugged,a nd...

Q u o t e:
Unless a quest is designated as a "Raid" quest in your quest log, you will not receive quest items (or credit for quest-related kills) while in a raid group. This is working as intended. To see if you are in a raid group, please click on the social button (default key: ‘O’). The second to last tab is set for raid. If you are in a raid, then quest items will not drop, and quest kills will not count.

I'm really not sure how they got that. Also, any suggestions on how to get kill credit so I can move on with the quest?

I understand that this might have been frustrating, and I really am sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, Game Masters are occasionally unable to lend a hand, though they'd like to. This is especially the case with regard to quests and questing.

You may find my responses in this thread provide further detail as well:

Should you happen to be in a raid, then you will not receive credit for the creatures that you slay or quest objectives that you complete. The only exception to this is for quests that are specifically marked 'Raid' in your quest log. May I ask if you were getting credit at all, or were you receiving credit normally, but were unable to receive credit for a particular creature?

Listen, I'm sorry - and I know you mean well, but that wasn't really a 'can't provide quests or kill credits' response from the GM. Can I assume you, at least, though you didn't mention it, will try and bring my issue with "the storm king's vengeance" to the debugging logs, or is this a known issue? If I can get that much assurance I'll be okay with it.

Well, it may or may not actually be an issue. If it is, then you can create a post in our Bug Report forum.

Ultimately, I'm attempting to determine if there is, in fact, an issue of some sort occurring at all. That's what I'm trying to determine via my questions.

Which is to say: Were you able to get credit at all? Or, were you only experiencing quest credit issues with particular creatures.

Q u o t e:
I was able to get kill credit for the Scourge x/100 portion of the quest - the lack of Algar (and I apologize, my memory was off for this particular Scourge's name) stopped me from trying the others (the giant's a pain to handle)

EDIT: Also as I was unclear. No raids were involved. No being partied were involved. I'd just finished the Wrymrest dailies on my second day and flown in to Ebon Hold, abandoned the quest, grabbed it again, and got the same issue. x/100 Scourge kills worked both times.

Got it. You were stalled at slaying Algar the Chosen, correct? A large Frost Wyrm?

You also mentioned that you were kiting this creature around? Do you think it is possible that you are too far away to receive credit when this creature falls?

Edit: I apologize for the battery of questions. I need to hammer this down to minutiae to determine what the potential causes might be. I appreciate your patience in the meantime.

Q u o t e:
Yeah, the big frost wrym - I don't *think* I was too far away, I was at most... and distances and descriptions are tricky for this, I was on giant king-back, about a quarter-way at most around the central structure in the area from him (the throw tends to be somewhat finicky so I was generally close) within an area defiined by the four 'mini-necrolopi', but I was generally close to the central, er, statuary. I'm not sure how to describe it. Maybe a plaza - giant could circle the thing in probably fifteen seconds.

I think I was practically hand-to-hand on the final kill, but it may have been the second (before I abandoned and tried again the next day) as I was pretty much killing him by the giant-tossing method, the shockwave didn't seem effective.

Got it, and thank you for the clarification.

There's a couple things that might be worth trying to help out. If you're capable of taking on Algar more directly in melee without dying, that might be worth a try. (Don't forget to engage Gymer's autoattack!).

Also, can you recall if Algar was at maximum health when you encountered it? There have been scattered reports of quest credit issues with this creature if it was engaged previously, but not slain.

Q u o t e:
I don't know - the second time was after my own apparent kill and a respawn, but that didn't grant credit - he appeared to be at maximum health. I'll try engaging at melee tonight - I'm not quite clear how gymer's autoattack works (the 'aoe' attack didn't seem to cause Algar any damage) beyond he generally seems to kill the little scourge if you leave him on top of them for a while, but I'll give it a shot and report back.

Just as a note, you can engage his melee autoattack (or any character's melee auto-attack if they have one), by right-clicking your target.

Q u o t e:
Sorry - I didn't expect a 'vehicle' to HAVE an auto-attack...

Anyway, I took the suggestion of melee range - that worked perfectly fine, thank you for the assistance. Apparently 'throw' range took me too far. Also: this was a lot faster than kiting.

Happy to help, and I'm glad you were able to complete the quest =).
