Is the Ghostcrawler experiment over?

His royal blueness has not been active on the forums, is his interaction experiment with the players over?

I read the forums over the weekend. I don't always post. Sometimes a blue post derails a thread instead of contributing to it.

I do think a lot of the same issues are being brought up over and over in new threads, which isn't the most constructive way to use the forums. But when players stop responding to them, they will die. If players are responding to them, then there must still be something they want to discuss.

You just need a way to flag a thread as "read by Blizzard"

That would not be nearly as helpful as you think it would be. :)

Have you considering doing something similar to what Nethaera just did? Make a weekly wrap up in a stickied post detailing your views on the player concerns of the week. Now if players keep posting about the same thing you can do one of two things:
1. Ignore their posts because you have a sticky that already talks about them.
2. Post in their thread linking to your sticky if you feel their thread deserves some blue attention. Doing this would consolidate player posts into a post much more likely.

I'm going to do my best to maintain those threads and update as much as possible each month so that people looking for current discussions on a topic that have Blizzard interaction can be easily found. The idea (I hope) is that it will help both the community and the developers with keeping discussion focused and in specific threads.

That said, Ghostcrawler will still be here posting as he can, but he gives his time as he can and more in depth involvement would come at the expense of development time.

We'll see how the stickies work out and if it's a good tool for everyone to keep tabs on ongoing conversation and should there be need for more, we'll discuss it.

I wasn't really serious.

They also need a flag saying "complete sarcasm" ;).

I have longed for a /sarcasm flag for a long while now. ;) It would be most helpful for those times I'm feeling mischievous.

No offense, but it was really sad that Pre-BC and during BC that we never got such Developer-Player posting as with Ghostcrawler. Occasionally yourself, Drysc, and other CMs would pop out and provide some nit-bit details with the occasional Kalgan PvP thread.

Besides compiling topics that we can get on a Bluetracker site or MMO-champion, what is your forum role now?

My role hasn't changed, nor has anyone's on the team. Keep in mind, our roles extend outside of the forums as well to things you don't always see or only see via some other larger project. :)

Keep in mind also, that Ghostcrawler is a developer and has much more hands-on experience with changes than we do (not to diminish our own work.) He obviously will have more immediate information on what is in the minds of the development team than we do, but that doesn't mean we're not right there along with them.
People enjoy hearing these things sometimes straight from the crustacean's mouth, but that doesn't mean we're not going to still be around helping out where we can. Don't sell us too short just yet.

While we're on the subject..

A "Known Issues" compilation would pacify a huge percentage of the playerbase and cut new threads about "Did you know ability X was broken!"

50% of the threads in this forum are...

GC DID YOU KNOW THAT...?

Blue replies, "Yes, we know"

or no response, which generates...

"HEY! I SAID!!.. GC DID YOU KNOW THAT...?"

Known Bugs, Known Issues

And if this already exists, then apparently it's posted in a bad spot, or I'd know about it.

Very often you can find known issues in the Bug forum. If you don't find it there, it's a good idea to report it or post it there just in case.

Oh, I think there's a spelling error in your sticky, unless you intended to write "Fxed" and not "Fixed".

I recall in the past you played a Disc Priest in BC. Have you been enjoying that spec so far in WOTLK?

I still play one. I still enjoy it though I also have my 'off' days like anyone else. More than that, I couldn't say since I wander into the realm of personal opinion and don't want anyone to add things to what I say that I don't mean or infer that it's an official opinion in this case. ;)

I know it's the healer forums, but you don't need to be uptight if you're enjoying a spec. :P

You've never been blue! ;p

My "off" days usually occur when there is someone behind me who could really use some burst healing. Too bad they're behind me. :-P

Thoughts?

I bet you pvp a lot right?

I PvP as much as I get the time in for. I try to mix up my play sessions though between PvP and PvE as well as working on Achievements here and there.

All things considered i think what we're going to see is a return to the past. Long intervals of silence followed by bolts from the blue (no pun intended) And days and days and days of players being upset and angry

Really i had high hopes for these sub-forums when they first started but if what im reading is correct then a regression back to the olden days is in process. I'd like to be wrong, hope to be wrong. But sometimes it seems that the " Ivory Tower" down there in CA doens't understand a WoW player. Or perhaps they do.

Nevertheless

Way too much doom and gloom in one post! Nothing is changing. I just thought that Ghostcrawler was looking a bit alone in here with all of you and thought I'd help out a bit more. As I said in the other post you started, you are incorrect in what you are 'reading in' to things.

Neth, I think people are just not used to you being here. Tips to become an accepted blue on the forums.

1. Have charm and wit
2. Use your charm and wit to post something that brings a smile or an actual "lol" to 80% of the forum community.
3. Have your charming and witty post misquoted, blow out of proportion, and used as a sig by the other 20% of the forum community.

My numbers my be off. I have not completed my forum census yet. I am having problems getting responses from households that have dial-up.

I've been an accepted blue for awhile now. It's just I can't use mirror image on myself in the forums. ;)
