Urgent Maintenance - Multiple Realms

Update:

We have identified a hardware issue on the realm Anub'arak, and will be performing urgent maintenance to address it. Our Technicians are working hard to address the issue as quickly as possible; however, we do not yet have an ETA to provide at this time. Should more information regarding this issue become available, we will keep you updated in this thread.

In an effort to resolve connectivity issues across multiple realms, we will be conducting urgent maintenance on the Emberstorm and Whirlwind Battlegroups shortly. We expect each realm in the affected realms to be down approximately 2 hours; however, the actual amount of time each realm is down may vary. Should downtime be extended, we will do our best to update you in this thread along the way. Additionally, information will also be provided in the following Service Status Forum post:

Please refrain from creating multiple threads regarding this issue; additional threads will be locked and/or deleted to ensure that each player is aware of the appropriate location to discuss this issue. Creating multiple threads regarding this subject makes it increasingly more difficult for our players to locate important information. Blatant disregard for this request may result in a temporary forum suspension.

We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences and thank you all for remaining patient as we continue to address this issue as quickly as possible.

I actually made a post regarding this very question in the thread dedicated to Misha last week, Dropkicker. To paraphrase, I essentially relayed the fact that the Game Master staff is not made fully aware of the technical issues behind the scenes, and that this is not the type of information I seek as a Game Master. I, personally, am more interested in the following questions:

  • Who is it affecting?
  • How long will they be affected?
  • Is there anything we can do to assist these player in the meantime?

Ultimately, I do not feel as if technical information in and of itself is valuable to me as a Game Master. I am unable to resolve a server issue and would rather the Technician responsible for doing so concentrate on the resolution rather than filling me in on every last technical detail. So to answer your question more specifically: it's not against our policy to provide technical information, but it can oftentimes detract attention from where attention is needed and technical updates are not feasible.

With that being said, we will most certainly provide technical information if we find that it is important to let you know of an issue. In this case, however, the breadth of the technical information I have available is that the servers which make up the Battlegroups are having difficulties and changes are necessary to ensure stability.

I sincerely apologize if you feel you have been left in the dark, Dropkicker. I assure you that any important information that arises will be brought to your attention just as soon as possible.

As many of you may have noticed, several of the previously affected realms have been brought online and are accessible.

We hope to bring the remaining realms up as soon as possible, folks. Please bear with us just a bit longer!

My apologies, Arrion; all realms are currently online and accessible. As your issue is a bit different from the rest, I suggest giving your transfer another go and letting us know in your previously created thread if you have any difficulties.
