i spent 3k yesterday leveling my blacksmithing from 375-440 and buying the mats for titansteel defender only to have blizzard declare this morning that they are removing the two swords from the game.

The thing to always remember about the test realm is that things can and will change. I'm sorry you feel you wasted gold, but it's important to keep in mind that what you see on the test realm may not always come to light in live.
