We do take player tests and estimates very seriously, particularly when we can verify the skill, knowledge and motivation of the player involved. At the end of the day, we are still going to rely on our internal testing to a large degree. You can have a tee hee moment about the times when we've gotten it wrong, because that certainly happens, but in the overwhelming majority of cases, our numbers tend to be right.
I'm not tee heeing.

My gear's no where near perfect yet but I have enough options from slots to confirm that his data is more or less correct. The EP value for critical strike rating is .52 for Elemental compared to .93 for Haste and 1.16 for Spell Power. Upcoming changes don't fix that. Upcoming gear is not specialized for Elemental, ergo, scaling problem remains. That ~7% we're getting from Elemental Oath really isn't enough to catch Elemental back up to Balance to begin with, but even if you pretend it does, the gap is going to grow again in Ulduar.

You made a spell that always crits a major piece of our rotation and then failed to compensate for the fact that +crit doesn't do jack for our DPS and smothered all caster gear with the stat. At some gearing point, Flame Shock won't be worth casting either, so you should probably look into that too.

Ezarethe makes some really insightful points about both scaling and itemization design. Thanks.

Further testing and parsing of data has proven that Elemental Oath is not adding 10% spellpower.

It is adding a 10% Multiplicative bonus to ALL of our spells which needless to say is a MASSIVE buff.

That does sound like it explains a lot of the differences between our numbers and yours. Sorry we couldn't figure out the source of the discrepancy before.

This is why I say things like we're reluctant to rely too heavily on player-generated numbers when they disagree with ours. We would have ended up buffing Elemental too much, which I'm sure might have been fun until we caught it. :)

In any case, we're pleased that the numbers changed in the intended way, but we'll continue to keep an eye on it.
