Dalaran, what a waste

with the aparrent tightening of time allowed for data transfer to/from realm servers, it has made it so that anyone without an awesome internet connection (under 100 ms latency and at least 3 or 4 mbps speed) only gets a server disconnect when accessing a toon in Dalaran. That internet speed is just not available to all who try to play this game. I started with only a dial-up connection and made a few to 70, I accepted the lag I got do to my connection speed, finally found a supplier that could connect me ISDN for 128k bps speed, and can finally enter a BG without instant disconnect, but Dalaran is impossible. I suggest programmers set to real world limits, so at least Dalaran could be accessed at times, not the current unuseable time limits, sure just state that if your latency is above a specified level then you will see lag, don't just disconnect the players, we are the ones that pay your salaries and bills, without us, you would be nothing. In essence, a server disconnect should be the last thing that happens when all other options have failed. If you think you are good then make it so that server disconnects never happen! (well, maybe after an hour of inactivity or so)... but times of a couple minutes vs a few ms is not too much to ask.

Are you using any AddOns, Forhaunted?

Q u o t e:
no add-ons, familiar with the canned responses,

The reason I ask this question is because of the fact that some addons have been known to cause issues when in Dalaran, especially when using a slower connection.

I understand that your computer's specs may be above par, but you may want to consider toning down your graphics while in highly populated areas if your connection speed is around 56.6k or so.

If you continue to have issues, you may want to contact our Technical Support department.

I will acknowledge that many add-ons have caused problems in the past, but to always point to them first and not even suggest to analysts and programmers that something could be done differently that would make the game better is just arrogant.

Well, you seem to be fairly technologically savvy; I assume you are aware of the generally accepted first step to having an issue with your local internet connect? (Power-Cycling your router). You can thinking of the Reset UI process as our version of Powercycling; it allows us to have a fresh start and ensure that you are playing with the base system and there isn't any corruption within the UI.

That's the reason why we start with the AddOns; however, anything beyond that will likely need to be addressed by our Technical Support department as they are trained to address complicated technical issues. They will likely require you to go through the various troubleshooting steps in order to get to the base of the issue and cross out any possibilities.
