"Rogues should be doing very high dps if not the highest dps for some fights. If that isn't happening we will buff them (ideally in a way that does not inflate their PvP damage potential)."

I cannot agree with the underlying message told here. While I believe rogues should be a powerhouse for melee assault and their dps should be very high I must state that their dps should never top a mage (given appoximate equal gearing) in any setting. The statement is carefully constructed but the message is subtly clear that Blizzard is doing nothing to stop the onslaught that rogues currently bring.

Rogues, in addition to their dps have multiple ways to survive and even remove themself from combat once in it. Given that currently their dps is so amazingly high and yet they retain all their "get out of jail free cards" while mages have high dps...and thats it, I think something needs to be done

Given equal gearing between a mage and a rogue the mage should always, ALWAYS do more damage to any PVP player. While I understand that some PVE fights may be structured around a magic immune boss I feel that blizzard is spending too much time modifying dps to a class that has always been beautifully structured.

From a pure lore perspective. A "mage" should not only be doing the most dps at all times, but should have "tricks" that atleast come near to the rogues bag of goodies.

That quote was refering to boss encounters. I even specified that we didn't think rogues needed a PvP damage buff.

I'm not sure other players will agree with your survivability analysis vis-a-vis mages, but really any class' sustatined damage over time usually isn't the issue in Arenas. Arena balance usually comes down a lot more to the nuts and bolts of specific abilities or the damage possible in a couple of GCDs.
