The Ghostcrawler Challenge

Blizzard Post
Well after reading these forums forums I have come to the reality that Ghostcrawler needs this information for himself to see what is wrong with the warlock class. In every thread that there has been with Constructive post regarding the situation with warlocks and our continual nerfing. I think its time that instead of waiting for Blizzard to fix us or make anymore constructive threads only to Have Ghostcrawler reply to trolls. I think its time Ghostcrawler saw what was wrong with the warlock class himself.

The Challenge Ghostcrawler will entail this...

A.You are to level a warlock to 80, so you can learn the mechanics of the warlock class yourself.
B. It will be on a PVP server.
C. You will pvp at lvl 80. No more Patchwerk test. The problems with Warlocks are not with PVE. Its with pvp. Because of the strategy your development team has on the basis of balancing classes around PVE not PVE around classes, it has caused great issues in PVP (Such as Survivability, Defense mechanism, pets, viablity etc.).
D. You will post in the warlock forums about your adventures about it.

Extra Credit: If there isn't a problem with locks, we would like to know your development teams rationale behind it. I know you guys have this we don't have to tell you anything approach, but as fans of this game and people who spend $180 a year to play this game, I think we deserve better answers then, vague responses to trolls.

Q u o t e:
I remember reading a post GC made that indirectly said that he never played a warlock. He just gets feedback from those that do.

I never said that. I do have a warlock. I flipped back and forth from Affliction and Demo while leveling because two excellent locks were both totally convinced that their spec was The Best Way To Level. I'll let you guys resolve that argument. :)

That said, I do listen to feedback from expert and new players alike.

Q u o t e:
To clarify a few things here:

1. GC never asked us how to fix the class, he simply asked us what one thing would you fix. The intent being, I believe, to gauge which of the warlock issues is creating the most issues.

2. I don't believe he's ever said he hasn't played our class. That said I think he has a pretty clear picture by now of what the key issues are, why they are issues, in what situations they are issues and the eleventy billions ways in which we would like to see each one fixed.

3. Leveling as a warlock is going to expose very little in the way of flawed mechanics since warlocks level pretty damn well. He'd be better off with an 80 premade and take it into arenas, BGs, 5-mans and raids.

4. I seriously hope none of you is actually expecting to see a GC post saying "OK members of the warlock community, I accept your challenge and will YouTube every minute of my leveling experience for your viewing pleasure.'

5. It would suck to get no forum feedback from GC while he's busy proving that leveling a warlock has absolutely no issues, especially now that you don't even have to quest for your epic mount. Multiply that time by 10 because you know that the second he accepted the challenge the other 9 classes would demand that he try playing their class too because he obviously doesn't know how to play them either.

Wise words from Letherchereo.

Q u o t e:

1) We secretly replace his coffee with Folger's Crystals, and we watch.
2) We see if he prefers Pepsi to Coca-Cola.
3) See if he likes Whopper over Big Macs in a ZOMG BLIND TASTE TEST.
4) Find out if he knows why kids love Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

It has been well-established that my cup does not contain coffee.

Q u o t e:
Second problem: You attacked me instead of the point I made -- that GC and Blizzard know your class better than you do; GC has said they're looking into the vast amount of 'information' (read: QQ) supplied by the Warlock community in regard to the 'fun factor' of Warlocks. They're asking for perspective, not class redesign ideas.

Third problem: You have failed to get it through your thick skulls that GC and the rest of the devs are on your side and want you all to try and clarify and identify and possibly fix any issues that you have with their class, threads like this one dominate the Warlock Community's "voice".

Fourth Problem: They aren't looking to redesign the class from the ground up, so people with epic, prose-length posts about what's 'wrong' and how to fix it, aren't doing yourselves or anyone else any favors by typing all that out. It isn't what they're looking for.

And has also been stated by GC time and time again, just because he doesn't reply to a thread, doesn't mean he didn't read it. He also wants to avoid turning a 'good thread' into a player-filled QQ-fest (like this one), which derails said 'good thread' and turns it into a garbage waste-of-time thread (like this one).

Snarky comments like, "Have fun with the Soul Shard system!" don't help. Briefly and concisely explaining why might! And merely saying, "everyone knows" or "all the Warlocks do x,y, and z!" don't help either, I'd wager.

Ooh, I like all of these quotes too.

Q u o t e:
This is a good example of what's wrong with these forums. He doesn't have to ask you, they've made it pretty clear that regardless of what players say they will design the classes how they see fit. Despite that they are still taking your feedback and go so far as to make a thread specifically about warlock issues and you're complaining? Seriously?

And this one.

Q u o t e:
1. THere is more then one problem. People have constructed quality post, but all he has done is respond to trolls. In effect, torturing us all for a few.

When I post in good threads it sometimes turns them into bad threads. You see a lot of "Firsts" and "While you're here can I ask you about...?" and just the trolls that tend to get attracted by seeing a ripe field for trolling. Some of the best threads are actually pretty short, but blue tags always make short threads grow long.

I promise you, if it's a good thread, I've read it. If it's a really good thread, the designers have discussed it.

Look, I know you’re impatient. I would be too. It’s totally understandable. We do have changes in store for warlocks. Changing shards is one of them, of which the new summoning mechanic is but a very early first step.
