Seeking acknowledgment for PvP debacle.

(New topic since people can't focus on the issue.)

We all know you rushed out Arena content because you had a deadline and all. Unfortunately this has caused some major concerns with the other areas of PvP.

It's obvious these areas are (have been) being treated as a second-rate aspect of the game or just plainly overlooked.

My question therefore is a simple one. Are these issues even being looked into, or are they just still in development?

It's understandable if things just aren't ready to be released yet, but we don't even really know if there was a plan to implement them? I mean, you go through all this trouble of adding new game mechanics to the game for Sieges and new battlegrounds, yet don't support them?

Understandably many of us are very confused when content is rushed out for one aspect of the game, but not others.

A simple "We are working on it" would suffice, but at the moment your lack of acknowledgment is rather disturbing :/

sincerely,
Razze~

The highest-quality PvP gear is obtained via the arena system. Nothing has changed in that regard. Those who choose to focus on battlegrounds for all PvP engagement still have access to good-quality PvP items. Under the current functionality though, the arena system provides a much better measurement of skill over time investment than battlegrounds. With that being said, we are working to develop a better system for measuring performance in battlegrounds. We have been saying this since Wrath beta, however, we have no additional information to provide at this point.

Zarhym, there was a post in the WOTLK Beta Forums a while back (before WOTLK came out) where Eyonix specifically stated that you intended to move the focus of PVP out of Arenas and back into faction vs faction Battlegrounds. He said it wouldn't happen right away, but that was what you guys were working on; bringing back the Horde vs Alliance battles. Is that still the current plan or have things change since that post? (it wasn't that long ago, but I can't find the post now). :p

That is still the goal.

Lies, the gear is inferior, if I want to excell at PvP I need to arena. Implement a rating system for other PvP gameplay so your players can choose what type of PvP they want to play.

GG, dancing around the issue. Just because you say the sky is red, doesn't mean I will believe you.

Edit: Mooooooooooooooooooo

I answered the two-part question exactly as it was asked. That's not a lie.

Yes, you do. Z, don't you play stupid. If you want PvP gear you must Arena, no ifs, ands, or buts. Have you been misinformed?

Don't play stupid? So I should assume the original question was as hyperbolic as your last statement here? If you want PvP gear you don't have to do arenas. If you want a full set of the best PvP gear, you'll probably have to do arenas.

Is this not against the goals of which you stated Blizzard to be pursuing in the earlier pages of this post? This is going the completely opposite direction! How can you not see this?

Choosing to not participate in Arenas means choosing to gimp yourself in battlegrounds by not having access to the best gear available. According to you, this is opposite to what Blizzard wants to pursue.

This is because, as was iterated in my first post, there currently isn't as sufficient a system in place in battlegrounds for measuring participation and skill as there is in the arenas. We're working to develop a better system for battlegrounds to ensure players are properly rewarded for skill, while others are not incorrectly rewarded simply for showing up.

As a side note, and I'm sure it will do no good, I've sent an email to [email protected] regarding your snarky comments and attitude in this thread. I'm sure no one will care.

It should be sent to [email protected].

The issue is that arena and BG are both PvP, but there is obvious segregation in place. They are both forms of PvP, but they take on different forms and one is being treated with obvious favoritism for no strong reason. Some people don't enjoy the one form, some players enjoy both. Why are the two things being separated, so strongly, when the difference is really so inconsequential? There is no reason, no justification, outside of bias. This is a fact, one you cannot dispute.

The guy playing AFKave day in, day out should not have access to the same gear as the guy with a 2000 arena rating. This is mostly our fault and we're working on a better system for rewarding contribution in battlegrounds.

Yes you do have to do arenas. You HAVE to do arenas to even get the lowest quality blues from the PvP sets. You NEED arena points to get them.

You don't though. If you don't want to do arenas for any points, the blue set can be purchased at an inflated honor cost, or using emblems of heroism.

you think blizzard would take note that there are some seriously pissed off players.... but with them making millions of dollars a month... they could care less

Fortunately, we do pay attention to our player base and we take note of the actual number of players upset. Not imagined numerical values that are far from accurate.
