Should I really have to pay extra?

I don't like paying extra money

I don't like paying extra money when the game is already very expensive. I love how great this game is. It is very nice and I understand the 15 dollars a month. What I don't understand is, I am paying to play this game and I also have to pay to:

Name Change
Re - Customize
Switch Realms

and several more.

What do you guys think? I think they should maybe raise the 15 a month to maybe 17 and let us name change and do all that other stuff as often as we would like...I was just wondering...

These aren't services that are integral to the game. We offer such services purely as a convenience to players, however, we do not feel such features should be standard with the game. For this reason there is a cost associated, partly so that we can maintain these services, and partly to curb the frequency at which they're used.

It didn't cost money to change my hairstyle earlier. Why does it now?

We're not keen on the idea of putting functionality in the game where players can pay for plastic surgery. We do, however, understand that making a customization service available to players would be very convenient for some. We developed the tools necessary and brought up the system. Those who feel it's worth changing physical appearance or gender are welcome to do so for a small fee.

Even at that the customization service is limited to the areas we feel have the least amount of impact on the game. Allowing players to change race, faction, or class is something we want to avoid, as this has much more of an impact on everyone's play experience.

In all it's a service. It didn't exist before and now it does. You can choose whether or not it's worth your money.

You did pay $15 a month for that. Your $15 per month is being used to fund stupid initiatives like sex changes and skin pigment modifications. They've just decided to charge you extra if you want to use the things you've paid for.

Do you think that they've taken some sort of loan against their profits to pay for that? Not at all. They used the barber shop and/or character creation functionality that they already had and started charging for them. Your money just paid for this. Your money also paid the salary for the executive that thought this up. It will also be used to give the executives bonuses if profits are good due to selling the re-customization.

We also get complimentary seat covers in the lavatories.

"it's an extra and if u don't want it u don't have to pay 4 it nahhh nahhh" is a terrible argument.
what next? extra characters beyond five alts cost fifteen dollars? and if you don't want to pay for it i guess it's "not worth your money"?

That would be charging for something when we previously did not. It's quite a bit different really.

So wait, did they remove any of the changes that we used to be able to make at the barbershop? My impression was that they were only charging for cosmetic changes BEYOND what the barbershops were able to do

No, though I could see how you might be confused about that after reading some of the retorts here.
