Update (12/13/2008 - 5:30 PM PST): An update has been made to the Service Status Forum post mentioned in the 12:00 PM update.

As an update, all new CRC requests are processing and finishing correctly. We are currently in the process of resolving those requests that have not yet gone through. Again, we would like to apologize for the inconvenience and I personally would like to thank everyone for their patience.

We will be updating this thread further as we have more news on this front.

Update (12/13/2008 - 12:00 PM PST) : To ensure that everyone is kept up-to-date on the latest developments regarding the Character Re-Customization issue, a post has been made on the Service Status Forum. We encourage you to keep an eye on this thread, as well as the Service Status Forum post found here:

Additional Information:

You do not need to "Unlock" your transaction. If you currently have an "Unlock" button on your transaction page, please make sure that you have logged out of the character for a significant amount of time. The "Unlock" button simply means that your transaction has not been fully processed; you will need to wait until the system is able to automatically finalize everything for you.

Until that time, please make sure that you are not logged into the character. This will simply cause further delays if you continue to log in and out of the character in question.

-----------------------

Update (12/11/2008 - 1:52 PM PST) : Before initiating the Character Re-Customization process, please log out of the game. If you were logged into the game when you submitted your Character Re-Customization request, please be aware that it may take significantly longer to process. Players still experiencing issues may want to take a short (30 - 60 minute) break while they exit completely out of the game; several reports indicate this may allow the system to catch up and display the Character Re-Customization button on the log-in screen.

Additionally, please make sure you are launching the game using the Launcher.exe file located within the World of Warcraft folder.

We greatly appreciate your ongoing patience, everyone.

-----------------------

Update (12/11/2008 - 10:58 AM PST) : If you do not see the Character Re-Customization button next to your character on the log-in screen, please exit the game completely and reload it at your earliest convenience. This process should refresh the client to allow for the Re-Customization button to appear.

-----------------------

Update (12/11/2008 - 10:49 AM PST) : After implementing a few key changes, it is no longer necessary to delete your WDB folder in order to complete the Character Re-Customization process. With that being said, we believe that players previously unable to customize their characters should now be able to do so. If you have any difficulties with this process, please be sure to let us know by posting the following information:

  • Character Name:
  • Realm:
  • Brief Description of the Issue:

Thank you all for your patience!

-----------------------

Update (12/11/2008 - 9:00 AM PST) : It has been brought to our attention that players missing the Cache Folder within their World of Warcraft directory may be experiencing difficulties when trying to use the Character Re-Customization feature. As a result, we request that you run the Repair Utility (found within your World of Warcraft directory) to correct this issue. For more information on how to do this, please review the following support article:

Thanks!

Update (12/11/2008 - 7:00 AM PST) : If you are experiencing an issue where the transaction page says pending, or goes to an error page from an unlock link, please attempt ALL troubleshooting steps in this post. If the issue persists, then you may call our billing department at your earliest convenience at one of the numbers listed.

-----------------------

Greetings all --

If you are experiencing any issues with the new character re-customization service, please try these steps.

1. Log out of the game.
2. Locate the WDB folder in the WoW directory and delete it. WDB is under the "Cache" folder.
3. Log back into the game client and see if the button appears.

Also, if that doesn't seem to rectify this situation, please try logging out for at least 20 minutes and checking again.
