... the nerf still goes ahead?

If i counted the pure amount of hate threads for the coh/wg nerfing, hell even the massive amount of individual hate posts in reply to those threads... the list would be enormous.

I would take a guess at the level of hatred for this is unprecedented in wow's history.

Just taking a look in this area and the priest/druid forums the threads about this nerfing fills up a large percentage of those forums.

Yet regardless of this, blizzard still shoves it down our throat?

No, coh was not my main spell, but to heal 5 party/raid members of aoe damage quickly, there was no equal for a priest. If the tank took damage, i didnt cast coh, or if a couple people took damage, i wouldnt cast coh. There would have to be 4 players minimum before id cast coh, and even then the damage to each of them would have to be worthy of spending the cd, mana and time to cast it. Ive been in many situations where having a spammable aoe heal saved groups/raids.

Poh has too long a cast time, costs too much and for the time it takes to get off, the healing just doesnt cut it. Dont get me started on the almost worthless confetti explosion.

Here i come shadow... after 2 years holy priest...

We do listen to player feedback, but we do not make changes based on a vote or consensus (which sort of implies that these forums are a reasonable cross-section and sample size of WoW players in general, which they most certainly are not).

We initially did try the cooldowns in beta and were worried they made the spells less fun. That is definitely still a risk. However, the reason we even talked about the cooldowns to begin with was because the buttons looked too attractive, and the spells made some encounters too easy. We went ahead and removed the cooldowns, but in retrospect, that was the wrong move.

I know it's hard sometimes not to take nerfs personally, but we have to do what we think is best for the game.

Edit for terrible writing.

So heres your thought process.

1.Smart healing makes COH too powerful, we need to nerf it
2.Lets try COH with a CD.
3. No thats not fun so lets remove it.
4. Wait, now that we've removed the CD its overpowered again
5. I know!! Lets try COH with a CD
6. Go to step 3

When neither A. nor B. worked, instead of trying C, D, E you decided lets try A again!!!!

I mean.. seriously??

I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed that tortured logic.

It's not really tortured logic from our POV. It makes a lot of sense.

1. Man, priests sure do use CoH a lot. Adding the smart heal is going to make it even more attractive.
2. Well, we could hit it with a cooldown. That will make the spell awesome when you click it but will make you use other spells during the cooldown.
3. A cooldown risks making the spell less fun. Let's use that as a last resort. If CoH turns out to be too good, we know we can always go back to the cooldown.
4. Yep, looks like that is exactly what happened.
5. Implement back up plan: add the cooldown. (I skipped over all of our discussion of alternatives to keep this short, but these are all explored in various other threads on the topic.)
6. See if this makes some encounters so difficult that we will need to change them. < - You are here.
