Hello,

Mal'Ganis appears to be very laggy (2000+ms latency) and myself and many guildmates are being disconnected frequently.

Just wanted to let you know.

Thanks.

Are you and your guild mates experiencing latency everywhere or just in 25 man raids, Blueshield? We have a post regarding the 25 man instances here:

On Destromath, I can't log in to my Druid that is standing in Dalaran. I can, however, log into my DK in Hellfire. On that same server, with no problems. I'm also on my Lock on Arygos as I type this, though I had some plans for the Druid tonight.

If you are unable to log into a character located in Dalaran, try disabling your addons, the main cause of this issue has been a common addon.

If that does not resolve your issue try resetting your User Interface.
Q u o t e:

1) *IMPORTANT* Exit the World of Warcraft to your desktop by logging out of the game and exiting. If World of Warcraft isn't closed, then these steps won't have the desired effect.
2) If you used an "installer" for a custom UI, see if it has an "uninstaller" and use it.
3) Inside the World of Warcraft Program Folder, delete the "WTF," "Cache," and "Interface" folders.
4) Restart your computer.
5) Please do not reinstall Addons prior to testing the issue you were experiencing.
6) Make sure that you are using WOW.EXE or LAUNCHER.EXE to start the game. Please do not run any UI installers beforehand, as we want to eliminate them as part of the issue.
7) Upon launching the game, you should see the Intro cinematic movie and be prompted to agree to the Terms of Use. Once you authenticate past the login screen, the “AddOns” button should no longer be visible at the lower left corner of the character selection screen. Both points mentioned previously must hold true if you should complete the aforementioned steps correctly.

The issue is likely related to the 25 man instance issue that currently is being investigated. All I can tell you is our technicians are investigating the issue and working with Development to find the cause and resolution so everyone can play with as little latency and as much stability as possible.

We understand the frustration this issue has caused. I'm going to keep this thread as the main one for now. Additional threads will be locked or deleted.

If I do receive any information regarding this issue I will let you all know.

Thank you for your continued patience.

I would prefer to keep this thread open for possible updates, that will be impossible if this posting style continues though.

I would like to add that this same lag is being seen on Kel'Thuzad as well. The lag is anywhere from 450-1000ms, and appears in 5-man instances, northrend, and outlands. Since the lag appears everywhere, it would seem it's affecting all areas of the game world.

Thank you, Shortstak, our technicians are aware of it. :)

Bumping for hopes of implementation of a queue on Mal'Ganis!

If a queue is required, Rappzilla, it will be implemented.

If a change to the hardware is required, Seksitime, it will be done.

It does little good to request either of those things here. These forums are moderated by the Game Master Department, not development, not the technical department or any other department that have been investigating these issues.

We (those of us who moderate this forum) will provide you with what updates we can when they are provided to us, if we are asked to gather information we will do so but we are unable to pass on requests. For now all I can tell you is that they are aware of the issue and they are actively looking into the this and working to resolve the issue.

In all honesty, if a queue could resolve the issue don't you think it would have been done?

I truly understand the frustration that these issues are causing, I do, and I can not tell you how sorry I am that you all experiencing the latency that you are. I also understand that it is easy to assume what the cause may be but these assumptions serve no purpose, you couldn't know what the cause is, unless you were working on the issue yourself. These issues are not resolved with a press of a button or the snapping of your fingers or even the ever so helpful "FIX IT" post.

So please, if you would like to provide helpful information on the latency that you are dealing with, post it, I will do my best to pass it on. Otherwise I ask that you keep this thread on subject, civil and constructive.

The type of information that would be useful is a description of the kind of latency you are having.
What time is it occurring?
What areas are you experiencing it in? A particular zone? Instance?
Do you have casting lag? Are you still able to chat? Move? Can you interact with NPC's or other objects?
Q u o t e:

Something to the effect of: "I'm sorry this lag issue is so frustrating for all of you. I can assure you that our team is working hard on the problem. We've determined the issue is X and we are implementing X Y and Z to alleviate this latency issue. Please hang tight with us, we'll get this all sorted out by ::insert deadline::"

Well I can saw that a few of us have said essentially that same statement except that we have not nor will we likely to ever provide specific information regarding what may be the cause of an issue. Our teams investigate the issue and work to resolve it. If an estimated time of resolution is available we may provide it but in most cases we simply won't. Time tables change due to many factors and we have found that if you give a "deadline" and are unable to meet it due to a number of unforeseen reasons, it is always worse than if we never said anything at all.

I blame Wintersgrasp battles. Whenever a battle starts the server lags HORRIBLY.

That is an interesting observation, Hfsdevill. Is the latency on your realm bad before the battle starts or just when it does? After the battle ends does the latency continue or does it return to normal?

How dumb do they think we really are?

How often the truth is perceived as some kind of condescension =(.

Not all connectivity issues are necessarily related to the ISP outages across the nation, but it is distinctly possible that they may be, particularly at this time when the issue has proven so prevalent.

If you find that you are unable to remain connected for more than a few minutes at a time, then it is probably best to refer to our Technical Support forum for more information.

The latency affecting many realms is already part of an ongoing investigation.

By you instituting a queue you admit it is a population issue.

Not necessarily. Also the queue system has always been there it had just not been triggered yet. Given the season, most people are playing and so the queues started up on several realms. :)
Q u o t e:

It seems they also locked the realm.

Thank you.

The lock on the realm, which prevents character creation, is also population specific. When the population reaches a certain level the ability to create a character on the realm will be automatically disabled until that population lowers for the night.

I do not have any specific updates for you guys but I do know that the latency of the realm is being closely monitored and our technicians are not done yet.

Ok i know this post is a year old but i cannot connect in malganis. First there was some serious lagging but then, i couldnt log in. When i log in, my toon list appears normally but when i try to log in with a toon, it disconnects me automatically. Plz help i had my mains there so i need some serious help.

Let's not pull up year old threads, shall we, Shadow. I'm going to lock this due to it's age.

In the meantime, are any other realms on your Battlegroup exhibiting this same behavior? Sometimes it can be useful to try logging into another on your Battlegroup to check that for connectivity.

Also, is this on all characters - or just one? Have you tried rebooting your system lately?

If you could try a reboot, and check to see if this issue seems to be the same across realms on your Battlegroup that would be my first two suggestions.

If neither of those seems to help, please feel free to make a fresh thread for this issue.

Thanks.
