Rogues are for what now?

“The rogue is one of the most lethal character classes in the game, able to deal out immense damage in a short period of time.”

”Only the rogue can hope to approach the massive amount of damage the mage can deal out, and even then, the rogue must get to within melee range to do so.”

Both of these quotes are from the World of Warcraft game manual.

Dear Blizzard-

In PVE, the reason I existed was to stand toe to toe with the most evil creatures you could throw at us, and obliterate the opponent while not passing the tank in threat. It took vast effort on some fights to go full throttle and still toe the line.

There is no equality in this game. That was the whole point. It’s a rock/paper/scissors mentality. There is always something that will destroy you, and always something that you own. People need to come together to reach the overall objective. Some people enjoy attacking from range, some enjoy attacking with melee weapons, some enjoy casting spells. Why on earth would you try to make all of that the same?

Don’t make me like everyone else when I’m not like everyone else. The reason I was higher was because that was all I had. When you bring me down to their level, you put them all above me.

Don’t tie my hands. Don’t take away the only thing I had to offer.

My solid damage and skill as a player was what earned me invites. I didn’t just pick a spec, grab some blues and hit macros all day to be good. There are those of us that researched builds, selected the best gems/enchants/gear and refined our fighting style to ascend to that #1 spot on the meter, unless it wasn’t a melee friendly fight. (A’lar)

Yes the meter doesn’t mean everything, but to a rogue it does. When damage is all you offer, why shouldn’t you be the best at it? Honestly, it’s like saying a carpenter can fix your sink better than a plumber, because someone thought they should all be well rounded. But you didn’t train the plumber to do anything else.

Why call the plumber when you can get the carpenter to do both?

I rolled a rogue to be a top damage dealer. Now that it’s gone, what do I have?

If you need me, I’ll be in Dalaran… opening boxes…
