Bursting down rares on Timeless Isle..why?

Golg just spawned 10 minutes ago. Ship was in the process of being downed when he spawned.

People frantically raced towards Golg hoping to tag him only to find him dead. I was lucky enough to tag him with just a sliver of HP remaining. Others were not so lucky.

One of the things that bothered me is while I was running to tag him, I saw Warlocks tossing Chaos Bolts into him and a paladin popped wings the moment he got within range.

Why are people bursting these rares? It isn't just on Golg. I was trying to be polite about one of the turtle rares on the beach by waiting for other people to gather, an then a blood elf paladin runs in and pops wings trying to kill it as fast as possible.

Would it not be more courteous to tag a mob with a few attacks and then back off? I don't drop skull banner, recklessness, and avatar on rares because I know how it feels to be a fraction of a second too late.

So whats up with this? See a rare, pop time warp, wings, reck, etc to kill as fast as possible to rob people of a mob?

Yeah, I think it's more that people want to kill it, and aren't considering if others can/will tap it in time. Ideally people are considerate in general, but rares pop up frequently enough that it's not a huge deal. Don't take it personally. I too will hit a rare and then stop, trying to give other people more time to run over and get it. But if something dies before I get there, eh, it happens, and could happen for any number of reasons, none of which are likely under my control. Do what you like and what you believe is helpful (not trying to kill rares super fast) and not worry too much about what causes other people to do the things they do. It's usually not very pleasant.
