Raid Latency - Ruin Battlegroup

Is blizzard aware of the severe lag issues in all raid instances durring prime raid time(6p-11p).

Choice encounters become almost unplayable in Naxx. Hard to move with a charge on thadius if your taking dmg before the charge loads on your screen.

Blue post would be appreciated so we can at least know you are aware of the issue.

Thanks for the heads up, and I'm truly sorry for any inconvenience this might have caused for players on Magtheridon.

I'll do some research and see if we're already aware of this situation for you!

As an additional note, are you guys in contact with any other guilds that are experiencing similar conditions in the same instances currently?

I'd like to gather more information regarding how widespread this might be while I seek out what information I can internally.

Anything new yet, Malkorix?

Not yet, but as soon as I have anything, you can be sure that I'll let you guys know.

Once again though, I'd like to apologize.

I know how tough it can be to get a raid together to begin with, and I know the toll it can take on morale to wipe on encounters due to potential outside circumstances. I hope you guys can keep your chins up and stay as positive as possible while this is being investigated.

just make sure you realize it is more than one server so magtheridon isn't the only one fixed please (:

Noted!

Okay guys, this is still being looked into. Unfortunately, as you might expect, I don't have a time frame available for when this is likely to be resolved though.

Since I don't know how long this is likely to take, if you can keep your raids together, it might be a good idea to use this time productively to gather mats, repair cash, etc. As long as everyone sticks around for awhile, I'm hopeful that you can still get at least some progress in tonight.

As before, I'll provide any updates I can, as soon as they're available.

As a note, I've changed the title of this thread to encompass the entire Ruin battlegroup, to serve as a hub of information for others that might check the Customer Service Forum regarding this situation.

Sticky for more visibility?

Not necessarily a bad idea, but I'd like to make sure that there isn't a short term resolution for this situation before we sticky the thread. I am keeping a sharp eye on this though, make no mistake.

Thanks Malkorix. Is the respective department aware and looking into this?

I'd like to confirm that they are, and the situation is currently under investigation.

Q u o t e:
We're experiencing the same thing on the Illidan server in the Rampage battlegroup. Only in raid instances, and only while in combat.

Edit: We've tried disabling all UI addons in case it was related to an addon that shares information among players.

Thank you for these details as well. Other potentially affected battlegroups should also be evaluated. If I'm not mistaken though, Illidan is specifically under investigation due to other factors at the moment.

Working on finding out if a raid is happening tonight.

Hello again guys.

We're definitely keeping an eye on this. Unfortunately, there are a number of potential contributing factors, and I do not believe that a final determination has been made regarding potential causes =(.

I know that this isn't great news while you're trying to organize a raid, but if you experience similar conditions tonight, please let me know.

In addition - if you can shift raid times off-peak somewhat, I'd like to know if you continue to experience extremely substantial latency.

Just as an FYI:
We decided to call our 25man raid early around 10pm server time on Tues Dec 2nd due to lag. At that time we formed a 10man naxx and went through it with minimal lag issues. I am not sure if it was because we were in a 10man naxx instance or if it was getting later in the night making it off peak hours, but I figured it might be useful to know that info to help narrow down the problem.

Thanks Frug!

I suspect that this might have been a combination of the smaller raid size, as well as the off-peak time. Still, any more information we can get could help lead to a more long term solution, as well as narrow potential causes.

Hey guys.

I haven't heard anything in a bit - how are raiding conditions on Ruin realms currently?

For those experiencing latency on other realms or battlegroups, it is probably best to make a separate thread. That said, please peruse the front page prior to doing so to see if another player hasn't already done so for your realm.

Just so you guys are aware, this is still being observed and investigated. I don't have an ETA for a resolution, but this hasn't slipped under the radar.

I may not have further updates available this evening, but please keep any information you feel might be useful coming.

I just wanted to make sure you guys were aware that though we might not have a resolution in place yet, you definitely are not being ignored.

I see Vrakthris is responding to threads now... he might be catching up on the issue right now and maaaybe he'll respond with an update. Just maybe, we shall see.

On-topic: Still stuck in the instance...

I'm afraid I don't have any further updates, Civrock, our Technicians are working with some other teams in order to track down the cause of the issue and find some resolutions can be implemented to alleviate the latency you all are experiencing.

I will certainly let everyone know as soon as I receive any more news.

Edit: If you are stuck, please submit a petition from an alternate character listing the name and realm of the character along with the word "Stuck". Our Game Masters are keeping an eye out for this type of petition and will try to get to each of you as quickly as possible.

Can you try closing down the client and rebooting, Deqa? I show that you were moved, perhaps you just need to reload the client.

Hello again guys.

I just wanted to post in this thread and let you all know that another round of more intense investigation is being performed tonight as raid times approach.

It is possible that the issue will still be active. If so, I truly apologize, but we can gather further information. If each guild or raid could provide one report including the following information, it could prove incredibly helpful:

    Realm:
    Guild Name:
    Instance Name:
Instance Size: (this is assumed to be 25 man)
    Time Latency Occurred:
    Encounter or Boss:

    Additional Details:

As always, your patience and cooperation is appreciated and invaluable. Thanks guys!

I know that conditions still weren't exactly optimal in 25 man raids last night, and I want to apologize for that. I did want to take a moment and thank you all for providing information though.

The precise causes for the issue have proven difficult to isolate, but the investigation is ongoing, and having specific situations to research is certainly helping. Currently, I'm unaware if raids tonight will be affected by this heightened latency, but it's probably best at this point to assume that they will be and plan accordingly.

As before, if I discover any new information, I'll alert you as soon as possible. I am truly, truly sorry that this has been occurring guys, and again, I want to thank you all for being almost supernaturally calm while we work this out. My commendations to you.

Q u o t e:

Ive posted in this thread as has a few others. This does not only seem to be effecting raids. Should I make a new thread?

I dont want it to seem like a "I got lag" because it is not just me, it is not just my location. It appears to be servers both raid and "regular" (?) within Ruin.

Only reason I ask again is all responses seem to address just "raids".

Thanks.

The factors that are contributing directly to the 25 man raid latency may not be the same as those that are contributing to latency elsewhere. It's probably best to raise such concerns in a different thread.
