Healing just isn't fun.

As someone who played a priest as a main for 70 levels (and very little else), I'm finding as I finally give more time to my alts, the game is becoming a lot more fun now that I'm not staring at everyone's health bar.

When I go into instances I can expect to experience content rather than play whack a mole and miss all the action. I remember trying to use mods to relieve this, and they did help, but it's still hard to notice when your standing in the fire if you're watching everyone else.

I really didn't think it would be this different, but it's almost like I'm playing another game.

Healing is a bit different for everyone. For me, I was previously a melee only type of player until convinced that I had some skill in the healing department. There was a need that had to be filled in the guild, so I stepped in. I've found that I enjoy it far more than I expected and it doesn't hurt that healers have some defensive and offensive capabilities to help them out.

If you're finding you're having fun with another class type, then healing maybe isn't for you, and that's fine. What's most important is that you play what you most feel comfortable with and enjoy. This has been said many times before, but this is a game and it should be fun. It's what it's been created for and it's the goal of the development team to afford everyone the opportunity (as best as they can) to achieve the enjoyment they are looking for.

Doesn't change the fact healers are useless outside of groups.

This is untrue, but I respect that you might feel that way.

Ahh, see now, in the statement of not being useful outside of groups, there was no mention of it being about specific specs. I fully admit, I spec for the ability to both heal and solo as I need. Of course, that spec could change once I max out my level and start doing specific raid healing. Then again, it might not change. I guess we'll see. I try to be as flexible as possible and at times a bit selfish in my spec choice. :) I still manage to maintain a very healthy ability to heal at the same time.

So Neth, which defensive ability would you say helps you the most in PvP right now?

Shield, Psychic Scream, Pain Suppression (Not necessarily in that specific order. I'm not letting the enemy know how my mind works!)

*By the way all, if you really have specific constructive feedback on healing, please feel free to post in the Healing Discussion forum. We created it for just such a thing and really do appreciate well constructed discussions on these issues.

Seems like everyone resists or is immune to psychic scream these days though, it never seems to save me in tight situations, but then again, i'm so squishy it doesn't really seem to matter anyways heh.

Also, nice to know the the best blue EVAR plays/played a priest at one time, just re-affirms that we priests are still important (in keeping up with the spirit of the thread.)

I have to say the psychic scream (fear resists) can be tricky on timing. There is no doubt. Anticipating the enemy and when they use their immunities, or how they use them can be a bit rough and there are many times when I've been off on timing or just plain out of luck.. It happens, and you roll with it.

Keep in mind for those concerned about the role forums, Ghostcrawler is a developer and is paying close attention to those forums. As always, feedback (constructive) is welcome there but it's important that everyone realizes that voicing your feedback is not a guarantee that change will come as a result of that feedback. We do the best we can and changes are always ongoing as we feel they are necessary. You can choose to get angry at me if you wish, but this is just a discussion we're having here and there is no need to get upset or post anything offensive.

.....resists are not the same as immune. Have you EVER pvp'd on your priest?

All the time and since nearly day one. No, resists are not the same as immunity, but again, you roll with it, adjust and either you eat dirt, you slip out of it (sometimes with a little help from your friends) or you claim victory. No matter the result, it's whether you tried your best or not (and sometimes whether you get revenge or not.) ;)

We could debate for awhile on the ins and outs of PvP and when everyone should do what and how, but that's not exactly going to do anything much other than expose preferences unless you want to turn this into a completely different discussion, in which case it probably should move to the PvP forum and made into a new thread.

How I play and how others play may not be the same, but in the end, it's still about having fun.

So, if Priests have complaints about their solo abilities (or lack thereof) would the Healing forum be the best place for it? I think we're all pretty happy with our group healing abilities. I just wouldn't want to clutter up the Healing forum with QQs about soloing.

If it's about healing in particular, the Healing forum would be great. If it's about DPS, then the damage forum, otherwise, we still keep an eye on the class forums though aren't as hands on.
