Item Level and Existing Characters

From the very start of the Alpha, I noticed that the gear provided is low in item level compared to what can be currently obtained in MoP, and the gear that was provided for the first glimpse of dungeons at last year's Blizzcon. So with this, I have a few questions:

1. Will the gear that will be obtainable from the first quests at the launch of WoD be this low in item level and therefore be completely overshadowed by players' current gear?

Or

2. Will the quests and monsters (as well as overall difficulty) of the starting content for WoD be raised to challenge players with higher item level gear?

More importantly, about the Alpha:

3: Will there be, or is there already, a way to import character data from live MoP accounts into the Alpha? Namely, I would like to be able to play MY characters rather than just use WoD template characters.

Yes. We want players who have spent the time and effort to collect endgame Mists of Pandaria gear to go into the expansion with a bit of an advantage. We also need to make sure that players who haven't been farming endgame gear aren't struggling just to complete their first few quests in Warlords. That means, much like previous expansions, your current epic gear will likely last you for a little while into Draenor.
