WoD Alpha Build understanding the "nerf"

I saw a thread on mmo-champion the other day showing WoD Alpha Changes and noticed on my Enh Shaman (as well as many other classes) that allot of our spells dmg %'s looked scaled way back. I know this is alpha, everything is subject to change, and i know its probably not an actual nerf, but i just don't understand how its not actually a "nerf". i know the stats across the game are all getting "squished" but to me, that change only makes sense on solid numbers. Ex. monster does 10000 dmg, now only does 1000 dmg ect. so why are allot of the %based dmg's our spells do getting reduced as well? if the solid number behind the dmg is also getting squished, whats the need for the % to be squished?

could someone please explain, or discuss? I'm curious what peoples thought are.

These are numbers without a base for us to judge it by. Because everything is changing so much, we can't compare it to what we have now, because it doesn't really match up at all.

That's correct. It's not a simple of matter of comparing "X ability now deals 15% more damage" because between the stat squish, player health pools increasing, and a number of other system wide changes are altering the frame of reference.
