What's the point of this game?

Lately every time I try to play wow I keep thinking to myself what's the point of playing this game. Sure some few people play for fun but let's face it a large majority of people play to compete and clear raid bosses first and get the best gear.

Now it's probably likely unless however you are in one of the world's best guilds that you aren't one of those prestige players. I think to myself why do people play including myself if they know they will never be on that level.

I think the fun in this game mainly comes from out gearing and out achieving other people, So why bother to play if it's highly unlikely you will ever be that good. Since there is a ton of people playing from day 1 you'll never have the seniority they do.

Diablo 3 and Warcraft never made me feel this way.

Your in-game happiness might find inspiration in seeing how far others have come and then working to reach the same level, but ultimately it's about what you find most enjoyable. It's your time, right? If you have fun gearing up and doing raids, go for it! If you'd rather PvP against others and work to dominate the battlefield, get out there!

In between these activities, you also have plenty of side things you can do, too. There's your farm, Pet Battles, Timeless Isle, achievements, scenarios, Challenge Modes, Proving Grounds, lions, tigers, oh my! Maybe set some goals or recruit some friends to help, and then get out there and just do what you want to do. =)
