Question In Regards to the Launch at Midnight

So I looked around on a few threads and did not find a accurate answer. Also checked out MMOchampion.

Anways in regards to Cataclysm, yes it comes out at 12:01am PST on the 7th (Tuesday Morning). I understand the launch time. But what does that exactly mean.

My question. When Cataclysm launches, will realms be down before then for maintance/launch? Or while we are in game playing, will everything unlock, the new zones, dungeons, etc. Or do we have to log out and relog back in for Cataclysm to "kick in" to our account.

The reason I ask, a lot of people are going to be going for a lot of realm firsts.

Please clarify with a Blue Post.

Thanks and Best of Luck in Cata

To the best of my knowledge a full restart of the game client will be necessary after midnight PST before you'll be able to port into Cataclysm zones, begin earning XP past 80, create goblin/worgen, etc.

There's no planned maintenance. It all happens while the realms are live.

Why would we have to restart the client if everything is pre-installed if you have the digital download.

Couldn't Blizzard just hit the ON switch?

Anway to confirm?

Again the reason I am posting this, is for achievements, for Realm Firsts. Any details would be great!

I will verify exactly what's necessary tomorrow!

12/06/2010 2:40 AMPosted by ShaelisBest of luck for a headache free evening, sir.

Thanks! Zar will be in the office with me. If it's anywhere as smooth as Wrath launch we'll be able to level our goblins. ;)

Will we be ported to our capital city's at 12am PST and/or have our hearths reset?

That wasn't the case for BC or Wrath, I don't know why it would be this time. I can't think of any reason why it would be. I would bet money they won't but I can double check.

(For the shattering it made sense obviously.)

Oh, what classes?

Double shaman! I'm going enhance. I think Zar is doing the same. No heirlooms. We're going to try to stick together level-wise.

Aren't Istrausz and Daxxarri in Singapore?[/quote]

Do you mean Ztala? She works out of the Singapore office. Daxx is actually here with us in CA, although he does work SEA/ANZ for StarCraft II.

Because I don't want to be standing round for 20 minutes and suddenly go, "CATACLYSM HAS STARTED!?"

Yes, if you set an alarm to go off at midnight using the in-game clock. :)

Bashiok: can you confirm and put my little moonkin mind at ease? :)

Upgrade your account to Cataclysm, run the launcher, you'll have any remaining data downloaded you don't have yet, and you'll be all set.

There's actually no reason to keep World of Warcraft discs around with the way the game is digitally delivered now.
