Seriously, who is in charge @ bliz?

Ok, extended downtime is one thing, not thrilled with it but it happens, but to intentionally take the forums down is unprofessional and unbefitting of a multi million (or is it billion) dollar company. And don’t tell me they didn’t do it intentionally, this happens every time there is extended downtime. You’re not some rinky-dink mom and pop business bliz, you’re a large successful corporation how does taking the company’s internet presence down help in any way? Do you think that if people can’t read complaints on a forum they won’t complain themselves? Your servers are down all day, people are going to be pissed, suck it up and let them vent on the forums. Do you even realize how bad it looks for a company your size to have a website unavailable? Seriously, wtf

Incidentally, If site/forum downtime is actually an unplanned complication brought about by an increase in traffic then upgrade your servers lol …it’s not like they don’t have the money. Microsoft and Google’s web presence attracts the same amount if not more traffic than the wow site and I’ve never seen either one down for more than a minute or two.

We are working to get the forums running smoothly as quickly as possible, though this is a direct consequence of forum traffic increasing exponentially due to the extended maintenance. The web database is currently maxed at 100% CPU usage.

This is not something we have done intentionally. It's taken me several minutes to be able to post this. I do apologize for the limited forum availability at the moment. Our first priority is to address the issues resulting in our realms being offline. This will also alleviate performance issues on the forums until we can make some more robust adjustments.

Enlighten us. Which server exactly is it that would not crash under the weight of hundreds of thousands to millions of simultaneous apache requests. Apache being the name of the web server they are likely using.

Yes, and we just added additional blades to temporarily compensate for the increased load.

Not something any web admin who knows there stuff would admit to.

I can probably agree with you there.
