Q u o t e:
1.Original Poster makes post. Usually class specific in nature. They would like to get dev input so they post in this forum
2. One or two posts from the. same class generally agreeing with OP or just adding to the thread
3. random class attacking a certain ability they would consider OP. 99% of the time it pvp in nature.
4. from this point forward the post is pretty much derailed. everyone will take sides and start arguing. The OP or the few that actually cared about the post may try and keep it on track, but they will ultimately fail and leave in disgust.
I have a slightly diffrent perspective on the class forums.
1. Original post pretty much as you stated.
2. Dozens of players of the same class agree with the OP, demand justice and get mad that a blue poster doesn't arrive to promise them buffs.
3. A different class posts "Hey, you guys freaking own me all the time. Maybe you aren't that bad."
4. Dozens of players get mad. "DON'T POST THAT HERE. Blizzard will see disagreement and think the community isn't certain on the issue. But we ARE certain that we need buffs."
The issue is not that every post in this forum needs to be of interest to every person. That was probably not even true for you in your class forums. But rather than having to wade through discussions of what spec to use, or what tradeskill makes sense for a rogue, or which weapon enchant to get, players who want to discuss class balance can come here. We're just organizing the discussion by a different topic than class.
I think this forum has improved dramatically since last week, and the healing and tanking ones are even better. Flame wars certainly break out of course. We're inviting players who probably disagree to try and have their discussions in public. Things will get heated sometimes. But the moderators try and take care of the flagrant offenders. I'm personally happy with the way it's shaping up, though it has a long way to go.
