...and our servers still aren't fixed.

Thank you, Nomepunter. For reference the previous thread was here.

Our technicians are aware that the recent changes to the realm have resulted in no noticeable reduction in the latency Illidan has been experiencing. I'll provide what updates I can as soon as I receive them.

Folks, please do not use inappropriate language or acronyms in this thread, all such responses containing them will be deleted.

Thank you.

Hey Vrak, this isn't a complaint, but rather an honest question. Why haven't free transfers been offered to Illidan? I don't personally expect compensation in the form of free play time, but it seems like it would benefit both the players of Illidan and blizzard if they could just move the players off the server onto low pop servers/new servers. Then (I'm guessing) you wouldn't have to fix the issues of Illidan and everyone could move on. I know I'm probably over-simplifying the issue, but why, oh why haven't we been at least offered the option?

I don't want to start a storm of questions and flames but I will answer you as best as I can, Chubblubsta.

The only reason that I can think of that transfers were not offered for Illidan is because your realm's population is not exceedingly high. The latency that you are experiencing is triggered as more people log in for the night but you never have more people on the realm than a lot of other realms like yours. In fact you almost never reach the point where the system automatically initiates a queue.

Could transfers alleviate the issue? Possibly, if enough people transferred off to where you don't reach a concurrency that starts the latency. This would be a short lived fix as your realm would likely have additional transfers and new character creation that would quickly bring it back up to the level of population that is causing the latency due to this technical issue.

Could we halt character creation and transfers to the realm to keep the population low enough where you don't experience the latency? Yes, but again this would only serve to hamper the realm as a viable place to play. If you have friends who wanted to join you on the realm they could not, if you wanted to create alternate characters you may be prevented.

What about transferring everyone to a completely new realm? Honestly, I don't know. I do not know if that is a viable solution to the issue. I don't know what is involved in such a move.

I understand that you feel that we are ignoring this issue and that a transfer or queues would fix it for you. These are not resolutions but band aids that simply delay the issue and will normally serve only to cause more difficulty in finding and finally resolving the overall issue.

Sort of like a sprained ankle, you usually only experience the pain of it when you put weight on it. It is a necessary evil that weight must be put on the realm in order to figure out where the issue is.

The attempted resolution that went in last night did not lighten the latency that you are all experiencing I am truly sorry for that. I had high hopes that it would finally return the realm to normal but that does not mean that our technicians have given up on making sure that your realm is as stable and latency free as possible.

Someone mentioned last night that you don't understand why I don't relate this information to my management, I was at home so did not respond at the time. I assure you that all my information has been passed on and they are acutely aware of the situation.

If you feel it necessary to vent your frustrations I completely understand I only ask that you keep such posts civil and free from inappropriate language and acronyms.

But, the part I do not understand is why free transfers are not offered to those who cannot bare to wait any longer, especially when you stand to lose those customers not only to the World of Warcraft game, but to blizzard products all-together. People wouldn't be so upset if this wasn't such a great game, but they want to play it, and it really does suck when other servers seem to be working fine and theirs doesn't. I just think it should at least be offered as an option to those who cannot wait any longer. Thanks for the quick response!

That, Chubblubsta, I completely understand. Your concerns and complaints and even requests are known, I don't have any other information regarding the current status of those requests though.

WTB Vrak. Hey Vrak, our friendly customer service rep, can you tell us is this a crash or an attempt to fix something?

I know it's crazy we want to know what's going on, but think you could let us know what just happened.

I don't believe so, Smoothiee, at least I have not been informed of anything. If the realm were to come down on purpose they usually try to initiate a countdown so people can get to a safe location.

You don't believe so. Come on man, I can tell you with out working at Blizzard it wasnt on purpose that Illidan was brought down.

Seriously.....Seriously.

Then Seriously. Why did you ask the question?

So Vrak can you respond to my previous comments? Yes I saw your one reply.

Also, why won't you contact me in game? I'd love to discuss things with you in Real Time. In Blizzard Illidan terms that means 30 secs in between each response.

Which comment, Smoothiee? And my place is on the forums, I am unable to contact you in-game. Sorry.
Q u o t e:

That's why I said someone, as in not him, as in someone who can make a decision.

Rilnac, any possible compensation isn't determined until after the issues have been resolved.

You said you'd be online on Illidan during peak hours to test out the hardware updates. So was I. How were you unable to whisper then?

And I was and reported what I found as soon as the latency started climbing but that was for research. I do not contact players in game, I communicate through the forums only. Sorry, Smoothiee.

I guess my question would simply be do you know if it'd be possible to get an extension on my RAF link as compensation for the server issues?

I don't really know, Spiiltek, the Recruit a Friend system all happens automatically so I am not certain if it is possible to manually extend the expiration date. Our Billing Department works with the Recruit a Friend system so if anyone knows they would. I'll try to make some inquiries tomorrow but it may be best if you call them yourself when you have a moment.

You can call 1 (800) 592 5499 (1-800-59-BLIZZARD) Monday through Friday 8AM-8PM (PDT) for live representation.
Australian users should please call 1-800-041-378 if the standard 800 line does not work.

Vrak, do you have the ability to get any info on whether this is just abnormally low population load, or if we're actually under full stress?

Nope, you are right where you usually are around this time of the day.
Q u o t e:

Did they do something?!

DONT HOLD OUT ON US!

Yes, something about a coding or programming. I didn't want to get everyone's hopes up. :)

803 MS now....

The latency in your instance right now is 148 ms. I'd look at your addons or your internet connection.

thank you for finally putting a queue on the server like we have been begging you to do for weeks now. First night where the server did not suck in such a long time.

The queue engaged based on the current population, nothing was changed otherwise. :)

I'm glad to see that so far this issue seems to have been resolved. As I have stated in previous threads compensation is not under the purview of the Game Master Department and if compensation is granted it will likely be added directly to your account.

You can check your Account Management page under Full Payment History to view any days that have been credited to the account.

Is it even possible to tell us at all, in technical terms, the way it was fixed and how?

I only have basic information regarding that, Xdemosthenes, it seems that the last adjustment, which was a programming fix was what seemed to resolve this.
