What happened to the in-game events?

I recall Blizzard saying that there would be more in-game events after the Zombie Invasion event. Where are they?

I see that the Necrotic Shard/Runes event is still active, but it's gotten stale. I found myself being the only person at Necrotic sites numerous times, I'm on a Medium Population server too.

People are becoming bored again. I can tell because Alliance members are now killing the Argent Dawn quest givers in Major Cities.

I wasn't a huge fan of the Zombie Invasion, but it was more exciting than the current state...

Bringing back the Zombie Invasion would make no sense. The Zombies came and destroyed. The Living people found a cure for the Zombies, thus killing the Zombies. Now the Zombies have evolved (in a week) so that they are immune to the cure discovered? Not likely.

No hints at anything. The cure for the plague has been found, we'll see what happens next.
