This can be viewed as a wholly unnecessary talent tax on caster DPS. Every DPS caster other than mages have nearly identical 5 point talents to reach 200% damage crits. In order to scale properly with gear, warlocks must spend a minimum of 15 points in the destruction tree.
Mages have +crit damage in each of their three trees, but neither the fire tree nor the arcane tree are 200% crits (arc is 175%, fire is 245%. arc can reach ignite and ice shards for large fire or ice filler crits)
Elemental Fury is early enough in the tree that it's quite easy for enh to pick up, and the talents en route to it are generally desirable anyway.
So I can't really think of anyone who wouldn't benefit from making 200% crits baseline. Ignite and Burnout would have to be tweaked (and one of them most likely removed/replaced), but for the bulk of these trees, these talents wouldn't even need replacements -- removing them entirely would just remove bloat people have been whining about. Elemental, Balance, Frost, Arcane, and Shadow feel a whole lot more fluid and less bloated without anything in their place at all. Playing with the calculators, it's still hard to trim any of these trees down to less than 54-58 points without feeling like I'm missing very important talents.
Destruction would be pretty easy..just move devastation back to where it used to be, and give us a new 21-pointer in place of ruin. There've been loads of decent ideas floating around, but I'd most like some form of controlled burst, so either a force-crit or a force-instant on next-cast, like NS or EM.
Thoughts?
