Why NOT cancel my account?

Now, I'm not making a "QQ I QUIT" post, if I was ready to quit I'd just do it -- no point in announcing it to the world, the world doesn't care.

Rather I'm posing this as a serious question -- by what reason should I keep my account open? Why not cancel it right now? What's my motivation to continue playing World of Warcraft at this time?

I'm the guild master of a successful raiding guild, I've got everything including a robust selection of geared alts that I could want pretty much, and I've been in the WotLK beta since it started and I love the upcoming expansion. BUT...

I can't raid because the server performance ranges from 1000ms+ lag to just full on outages during prime time. I can't do pretty much anything else because all the NPCs everywhere are dead most of the time due to this idiotic "event". I can't even play my 20-29 twink or check my auctions because if I log on a sub-70 char in a city right now they just get killed. Not that there are any auctioneers anyway.

I don't WANT to quit, I want to play WoW, but between the instability of the servers and the ravaging of the cities there's no WoW to play. There's essentially no accessable PVE content right now, and I can't actually GET to the PVP content since the Battlemasters are all dead, what exactly is my motivation to keep paying for a game I can't play?

We have continued to address performance concerns and things have gotten a lot better since the launch of Echoes of Doom. While I can't say I know how things went for your realm, the realms I played on weren't an issues throughout the weekend.

The zombie invasion is about to be cured in a few hours. You will be able to afk in your home cities in peace once again thanks to the hard efforts of some NPCs.

That's a pretty snarky comment for something that, according to Tigole, is ending at its regularly scheduled time.

hmmm....

Yeah, snarky, rar - the people hanging out got hit pretty hard by it, so now that the cure has been found and is being distributed, the cities will be safe.

So the people just trying to go about their WoW playing weren't hit hard by trainers, flightmasters, auctioneers, bankers, vendors, and innkeepers being gone because someone thought it was funny to zombify everything? The lowbies and new players trying to finish a few quests but can't because someone has turned all of their quest NPCs into zombies, they weren't hit hard by this? The players who pay for a game, who are making the best of a bad lag situation, who are logged in to have some fun but instead spend an hour cleansing and fighting and are harrassed for it, they weren't hit hard?

Sure, some people were QQing because they couldn't AFK in front of the IF AH and show off their bear mounts and epics. Sure, some people were QQing because their normal routines were disrupted and they can't handle change. Other people have legitimate complaints and they presented them in a mature and respectable fashion. If it was intended for the event to end today, great. If not, then I'm sorry that the outrage was so excessive to frustrate Blizz into ending it early. I'm sorry that we have parts of our playerbase that enjoy being rude to other people because they can get away with it. I'm sorry that Shatt is a sanctuary and I couldn't kill the people who were zombifying the whole Lower City section, thus ending my need to QQ. The idea was great, the execution needed some help, and I don't know that it is Blizz's fault.

You made a false assumption that my statements were meant to cover every single aspect of the game that players complained about. I was simply stating that cities will be safe and one area that players complained about will be fine again. Once again, this assumption is false.

hope the cure wasn't 'rushed' so the even could end sooner because players don't like to have fun events....

A lot of people were having fun with the event and it is ending at the scheduled time.
