PCT and PCNC Issue - General Information

Blizzard Post
Update, 10/27 1:50pm PDT — At this time, we've been informed that many characters previously locked as a result of an unprocessed Paid Character Transfer or Name Change queued between 10/20 and 10/22 are now unlocked on the source realm. In the event that you find your character locked, please know that we are still working to resolve the remaining issues.

We're still on the lookout for more information; we'll be sure to pass it along as soon as it becomes available.

    ______________________________________________________________________

Update, 10/26 1:50pm PDT — In addition to the steps given at 2:12pm PDT yesterday, we are requesting that our players follow the steps found on the following support article:

http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=21226

While following these steps have helped resolve a number of issues, I'm afraid that this process may not work for all players currently experiencing transfer issues. Given that this has proved successful for some of our players, we encourage you to give it a shot.

    ______________________________________________________________________
    ______________________________________________________________________

Update, 10/25 2:55pm PDT — This is more of a "non-update," but still relevant. Our Technicians and DBAs continue to address reported issues at this time. With this, we are aware that many players are still unable to view their pending requests within the Transactions screen. Please note that this information may appear and disappear as work continues.

    ______________________________________________________________________

Update, 10/25 2:12pm PDT — If you are experiencing difficulties accessing the Transactions page for either service, please try clearing your Cache and cookies and trying again.

    For Internet Explorer:

    Go to "Tools."
    Navigate to "Internet Options."
Click "Delete Cookies," "Delete Files," and "Clear History."

    For Firefox:

    Go to "Tools."
    Navigate to "Clear Private Data."
    Click "Cookies" and "Cache."
    Hit "Clear Private Data Now."

You may also wish to try another browser entirely. We've received reports that different browsers are providing differing levels of success for many players.

This has proved, at times, to reveal "missing" characters within the page, as well.

    ______________________________________________________________________
    ______________________________________________________________________

Update, 10/25 1:30pm PDT — In effort to resolve pending or missing requests, you may witness your characters' status change within the Transaction page. Though we are continuing to address all known issues at this time—"missing" transactions, locked characters, pending transfers or name changes, and payment finalization—should you regain the ability the cancel your request, you are welcome to do so.

Those of you who still cannot access your transfer or name change status within the Transactions page, please remain patient. If you wish to have your request to remain in queue, please do not log into your target character, as this may interfere with the actual process.

We are presently investigating issues affecting the Paid Character Transfer and Paid Character Name Change services. This thread will serve as a centralized topic wherein updates will be provided and additional information gathered (as necessary).

In effort to keep dialogue as streamlined as possible, off-topic or inappropriate posts will deleted.

Thank you!

Due to the number of changes that have been made, and the characters that this issue is still affecting, if you have not already, post the your information here in below-noted and using the following format:

PCT/PCNC: (just give me the acronym of which one you are having trouble with)

This applies, as well, for account-to-account transfers.

Update, 10/2410:12pm CDT — Now that I have managed to get caught up with the posts you guys provided me with in the information gathering thread. I would like to give you one last update before I head home for the night, as well as explain what that thread is for. We have finally reached a point where we are able to manually push these transactions through. I have been gathering your information and sending it off to the DBAs that have the power to make this happen. As a result, we should have all of you who posted in the previous thread sorted out within a day.

So are you suggesting we cancel our transfers and put them in at a later time or are these current transactions going to be proccessed?

I'm suggesting neither, Bax. I'm merely noting that players are welcome to cancel if they are able and wanting.

Wait time is not yet available. Should one develop, I'll certainly let you know. :)

That said, Áedán, and as I noted before, your most apt avenue to pursue—the one that will actually allow your concerns to be seen by the appropriate parties—is the Suggestions Forum. There is no email or number available for your specific request, I apologize.

What about those of us that don't have anything pending. You said before I'm finalized, my payment gone through, there's nothing to cancel, however I'm still locked with my same name. When everything is figured out will I be able to log in and play normally or will I have to initiate something else from acct management?

We're still working on that, Xìaoxuan. Once I have an update regarding PCNCs, I'll certainly let you know.

Well I already cancelled my account as a Blizzard rep told me by phone that these characters have been "lost" due to issues with the last patch.

Present information shows these characters within our internal queue. Many players briefly witnessed these "missing" characters within the Transactions page, as well, and were able to successfully cancel.

Perhaps your transfer or name change was particular or unique, I do not know. May I ask if your pending request is for the account on which you're posting?

Q u o t e:
Hi - Still looking for an answer here. Now that I see your update that new transactions might work without a hitch, will the extra charges disappear if i cancel? or will that cause further problems with me being refunded?

thanks

Have you finalized payment, Freddy? If not, any displayed charges you see within your billing statement should return within a few days time; these quantities are simply being held and will not be deducted in any amount until you finalize your payment.

I'm assuming your attempting to use the PCT service, correct?

Need to report your specific data herein, but thank you for the information. :)

By "pending" do you mean missing from the Transaction page or presently waiting at "Approval Pending"?

I unlike most people posting did a PCT and account transfer which i am not comfortable with posting so what the heck do i do?

List the character and realm name. Note specifically that it is an account-to-account transfer. You do not need to include either account name for the information to be relevant.

Even so, should you not wish either your name or realm to be publicly visible, you are welcome to create the post with the information and then immediately edit it out. We are able to review revisions.

Q u o t e:
but this is extremely unacceptable that everytime i check the transaction page i get charged 1 dollar,

These are simply holding fees. They should return to your account fully within a few days time. :)

Q u o t e:
Should we all who have been afflicted by this expect some kind of compensation? like making this transfer free or giving us a free month of play?

As noted, the Game Master staff does not possess purview over reimbursement or compensation. Should you believe this issue paramount, I encourage you to please post within our Suggestions Forum so that those with the proper purview can understand your concerns more readily.

For PCTs, the cancellation page is here:

If it's accessible, this is where you may be able to cancel a pending transfer. Some players have reported successful cancellations.

I am personally unable to affect the status of one's transfer, Quebertz. The information provided within the gathering thread is not addressed by myself or my colleagues, specifically; rather, it is collected, documented, and then forwarded onto our Technicians and DBAs for further review.

Syn, my PCNC won't go through because credit card number is wrong!

Look if you want and have access. My subscription credit card # and the one I enter for PCNC match but the last four digits for PCNC is wrong. This will never go through, they can't just take $ off thin air if the credit card # is wrong. I would do it again, but it says I'm "Ineligible".

My colleagues and I do not have access to this information, DarkÃ¥ngel—I do apologize. This would be a matter best addressed by Billing & Account Services.

My recommendation is that everyone stops trying to do anything with the PCT / PCNC pages until you receive word that the work has been completed. This will allow us to ensure that no one ends up in the same boat as before.

I realize that you guys want to get it down NOW! but constantly trying to meddle with it while the issues are being worked on isn't really going to get you anywhere.

Given that the preference is that we continue to wait more, (though I have no choice atm), is the expected time to completion still tonight? Via last night's "in a day" statement?

The expected time is "as quickly as possible"; I know that's not exactly a specific time frame, but it's all I have at current.

We do hope to have it resolved tonight, but we'll see as it gets later in the evening.

As this seems to be a point of contention: No characters were lost, deleted, or altered in any fashion if it happened to "vanish". It only disappeared from the user display on the PCT/PCNC page. Nothing happened to the character itself.

There is absolutely no difference at the moment regarding the information that is available between PCTs and PCNCs. There is no difference between the two at all in regards to our addressing of this issue.

We're simply waiting word that the work has been completed for all of those that have reported this issue.

Q u o t e:
What will happen after you guys get word that the work has been completed for all those that have reported this issue?

We will let you know.

And I do not have an ETA; unfortunately — as you are certainly aware — there are a significant number of reports of these issues which need to be addressed. Not all of them are exactly the same, either.

At last count, we're at about 1350 — as you can see just from the forum post requesting information — give or take some repeated reports.

It's going to take time to resolve every last one of those.
