HH Mount was a Mistake

From what I have heard on the forums, and ingame, this years Halloween event has been horrible. Not because the event is boring, or because its too hard or easy, but because of the people.

I did the event the first 3 days, and liked it, but the people I do it with haven't been online, and I don't dare pug it. People are joining, saying they can summon him, when they really can't, people are inviting players, than kicking them after they use up their summon, and people are putting master loot up right before the HH dies. Maybe its just my server, but it seems these things are happening more than even once and a while.

Why this event? Because of the mount.

Blizzard released the coolest mount, which can be used as a flying mount, or ground mount, in both Azeroth, and Outlands. Which drops from a holiday event, and has an extremely low drop rate.

The chance that someone will get one by fairly doing the event 5 times a day, without tricking people out of summons, is very, very low.

If you want this mount, you have to cheat, lie and steal your way to it... Or you can do it the old fashioned way and pray, pray it drops from your 5 attempts a day, because if it doesn't, you'll have to wait a year before you can even think about getting it.

Rare items will make good players do bad things, especially if it has a limit for how long you will be able to get it.

I am happy to announce that after seeing it drop twice, I now have this mount. I am also happy to say that while some people did try to cheat me out of some summons, I did not need to lie, cheat, or steal to get it.

I think that while there are those out there who will try to get this item in an underhanded way, that there are many more people who are legitimately trying to get this mount and the other various holiday items.

That said though, the mount is meant to be rare and not easily gotten.

I wish you the best of luck and suggest that if you can, find people you've found to be trustworthy, set up a time to meet, and get in your five summons with them and perhaps you too will get this mount.

Neth smash? Shard purplez?

Nope. But in general, any pugs I've run have been very generous, patient, and fun to be in. I've also been running some just to help others out.

I am happy for you that you got this mount Neth. But the reality is that is is not simply hard to get. It is unfair to the people who are truly, desperately working to get this mount while people who could care less and simply want a free epic flying mount roll and see two and three in the average course of their summons.

I personally have done 212 runs and have never seen a single mount. I have spent the last 8 hours. Yes, 8 hours farming this boss and I have yet to see this item. My friend is on 297 runs, and he has never seen one. Joe schmoe level 65 cant even fly yet runs around in shattrath on this amazing mount, when I have been pulling my hair out hoping to even SEE one. I have an alt parked in SW barking for groups, having to offer thousands of gold to find group after group, while my main rots in SM, unable to participate in the zombie event, unable to trick or treat, unable to do anything but sit and wait for another group, another 4 Witches Bands, and then another 20 minute wait while the NEXT group flies up to SM after my alt lures them in. I have tried so hard. I have done EVERYTHING I CAN and I cannot get this mount to drop. This is just... horrible.

Everyone has the same chance so in that way, it's still fair. I've been lucky and have seen it drop twice and far luckier that I won the roll. I wasn't expecting it. I've even been in groups where more than a couple of people had managed to get it since the start of Hallow's End. There is no doubt that it's not easy to get, but there is still time before the end of Hallow's End and a solid group can run through the summons pretty quickly.

There is no doubt that it's hard. It's not meant to be easy in that way. Did I want the mount? Yes. Was I counting on getting it? No.

What's most important is just trying to enjoy the event over all and try not to stress over getting the mount if you can. I won't lie and say 'it's not all that' because I have to be honest and say I love the mount. But, I would have been fine had I not gotten it this time around though a little disappointed. ;)

Of course they have been, Neth. You've been in them. =P

Psst.. people don't know it's me in the group. That would be BAAAAD and less fun for me... ;)

No one is disputing the fact that this mount should be rare.
I agree and think Neth is completely missing the point that the OP was trying to make.

No, I understand, but running in pugs is not as bad as some would make it seem. I'm saying that there are going to be those who are unscrupulous about how they go about getting more runs in. Be wary of them, keep track of who they are, find people you have run with before and enjoyed doing so with, and keep going. Don't let those that think to work the system, work you.
