Arena Issues 10/23

This is a continuation of a prior thread. I'm gathering more data so we can determine how this situation is looking currently.

We've received reports that arenas are experiencing much higher levels of latency than they should. While we've been working to resolve this, unfortunately, it appears that the issues have persisted.

In an effort to gather information and provide a more lasting solution, it would be helpful to us if you can post in this thread describing the situation you've experienced in the following format:

Realm: <realm name>
Battlegroup: <battlegroup name> (you can locate your battlegroup here: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/pvp/battlegrounds/battlegroups/)
Issue: <describe the nature of the latency or issue you are experiencing here>

Please refrain from other comments here, as this is intended to be a thread where we provide updates and gather information. As always, I thank you guys for both your patience and cooperation. Hopefully we'll be able to get things back to normal quickly via our combined efforts!

Thank you all for continuing to provide information on the arena latency issue. The causes are still under investigation and I really am sorry for any inconvenience or delay this might cause.

I don't have an ETA for when a resolution will be implemented at this time, but we do understand that this is an important issue and that it is receiving the appropriate level of attention.

While I am truly sorry that this seems to have been a persistent ongoing issue, I assure you that we are very focused on resolving this as soon as possible.

Sorry for the delays, guys. I only have a minor update, but it seems as though some work is being done on the realms over the course of the standard weekly maintenance. It is hoped that this will resolve several outstanding issues.

Obviously, I'm unable to guarantee that this will result in a latency free arena experience, but here's (fervently) hoping. We'll certainly be keeping an eye on it.

So basically what you are saying is you HOPE that it might be slightly better with maintenance, but tomorrow, when we all log on, and it's still terrible, sorry, we're SoL.

Also, care to help us understand what the problem was? Or are you just hoping tweaking something slightly will help, since you really have no idea what the problem is?

Arenas lag bad, we all know

I don't know what the specific issue is, nor am I provided with that information. Given that it would pertain to internal systems, I wouldn't be in a position to discuss the specifics anyway. I know that it can be frustrating to receive relatively vague information, and I do apologize for that, but more specific details simply aren't available.

As it stands, this is what we're looking at. Though it is hoped that everything will be resolved, there isn't a guarantee that it will, and I didn't want to mislead anyone. There may yet be work to do.

And of course, should there be further issues, we will continue to work until they are resolved.

If you believe that this issue merits compensation, please feel free to open a constructive Suggestions forum thread on the subject. It is unlikely that in-game material compensation would be provided, but if you are interested in seeing recompense provided in that fashion, a Suggestions forum post is the correct avenue to request it.

I know it's been a bit of a bumpy ride, and thank you for keeping your heads. It really is deeply appreciated, and I hope we were able to restore the arenas to clean and competitive experience.
