Update, 10:42 am CDT: We request that players receiving the Invalid Credit Card error and players who are unable to advance to the next step of the Paid Character Transfer process reset their browser's cache and cookies. I would like to inform everyone that we are still investigating issues affecting the Paid Character Transfer and Paid Character Name Change services. This thread, much like Syndri’s previous ones, will serve as a centralized topic in which updates will be provided and additional information gathered (as necessary).

As before; any off-topic or inappropriate posts will deleted in effort to keep dialogue as streamlined as possible.

Update, 6:28pm CDT: While the Paid Character Transfer section of the Account Management has been brought back online, it appears that many of players that were previous stuck are still experiencing the same issue. I know this is much less of an update than we had hoped for, but I assure you that this is still being looked into.

As stated previously, several accounts should now be able to finalize their process at this time. If you do not happen to fall into that category, please remain calm. We will get this sorted out for you.

Update, 3:26pm CDT: The Paid Character Transfer section of the Account Management has been taken down temporarily. This is in an effort to resolve the remaining issues players are experiencing with characters not finalizing the PCT process. I apologize for this inconvenience, but please be patient to resume finalization testing until we bring this page back up.

Update, 3:10pm CDT: We have just been informed that many of the previously "stuck in limbo" characters are now able to finalize their transactions. I would like those of you who are currently waiting to log into the Character Transfer section of the Account Management page to attempt to complete your transaction at this time. Please let me know if your transaction was successful.

We realize that not all transactions are able to be processed at this time, and we are currently working to resolve the remaining issues. Please bear with us as we address these remaining issues as quickly as possible.

Update, 1:48pm CDT: For those of you concerned about charges that have been made, without finalization and the ability to play your character undergoing a PCT/PCNC, I assure you that our Billing Department will work with you to resolve this issue. Many of these charges are only pending and the money will be returned to your account after your financial institution recognizes the failed transaction -- this process typically takes 3-5 days. If the money is not returned within this time period, please call Billing and Account Services.

Please note that this is only for transactions that are not finalized. If your character is unlocked, and the PCT/PCNC successfully completed, please disregard the above statement.

Update, 12:17pm CDT: There are an increasing number of you commenting that you are experiencing issues with credit cards being rejected despite the information provided being valid. I wanted to let you know that this is currently being looked into further, as we are working to resolve this issue.

Update, 6:00pm PDT: A small non-update! We continue to examine all reports of issues with finalization, "missing" or locked characters, and still-pending requests. Update, 5:30pm PDT: We are receiving reports regarding successful character transfers and name changes at this time. We are continuing to investigate "missing" and locked transactions, finalization issues, as well as requests which remain presently pending.

Update, 5:15pm PDT: We have received word that the scheduled upgrades have completed. Awaiting information regarding the status of each service's availability and that of still-pending or "locked" transfers.

Update, 4:30pm PDT: We are currently investigating issues preventing transfer, name change, and payment finalization. Should you be unable to properly finalize your request this time, please remain patient. Repeatedly querying our system for information may cause your payment method to display multiple "holding" fees; although no physical value will be deducted from your CC until finalized, these fees will persist until the transfer or name change is complete.

Update, 12:30pm PDT: We aware that many pending transfers and name changes are no longer displaying within PCT and PCNC status screens and that each related character has been "locked." We are presently looking into these reports and will provide further information once it is available.

Bax, believe you me; I truly do understand what you are going through here. I currently have a character that has been trapped due to this issue as well. It is not on the Transaction Page of the Account Management site, and is locked, "until the character update process [I] recently initiated is completed."

I asked them what was wrong and they said that Blizzard is sending invalid information to them so they reject the charge.

At this time, Missknocker, if your character is frozen and unable to be played, Billing would not be able to cancel the pending transfer. Billing is currently exploring remedies to correct this issue and I will let you know if the status of this shifts in the slightest.

We are collecting any information that we think may be valuable. If you wish to refrain from posting your character name, and the realm you are moving to, that is your choice. You can, however, create an alt on that realm, if you would like, to "reserve" the name that you are planning on using.

Just trying to offer a suggesting, if you would like to provide your character info. :0)

If you were to try this, Eventhia, you should receive the same error as when trying to log into the toon. “You cannot log in until the character update [process you recently initiated is complete.” Regardless, I would not attempt this, in the event that it did allow you to delete the character, I fear the repercussions it would have.

Yes, Shocktartt, this should mean very good things to come. Right before they pulled the PCT page down, I was told that many of the characters “stuck in limbo” should have been able to finalize. This downtime is in an attempt to resolve the remaining issues that players were experiencing.

I think the issue requires the system, as a whole, to be shut down during this time, Alloy. I’m sorry to give you hope, only to take away the opportunity, but I assure you it is for everyone’s best interest that we do so, so we can resolve the issue in its entirety, and not just for half of you.

I would imagine, if you initiated your transfer today, that is will be processed as soon as the Paid Character Transfer service becomes available again, Konsho. If you were “stuck in limbo” like many others here, we should have a resolution even still, but you may have to re-initiate the process (though it should be able to simply be finalized).

There are a few groups working on these specific issues, its not like one man putting the limbo issue on hold to resolve the Credit Card issue or anything like that, Farooki. Hehe. I know that many of the previously stuck characters are now able to finalize their process, and free themselves from this nightmare. Unfortunately, that is not the case for all of us. There are still some, my self included, that are not able to finalize yet.

You are very welcome, Fawe. And I am truly sorry, but there really is no feasible ETA at this point. I could very well tell you, “by the end of tomorrow” but it would be a complete farce. You guys are stuck with me as long as I am here. :0)

You will need to "finalize" the transfer, Shocktartt. Meaning you would need to be able to log in to the Account Management page to complete the process.

My records show that your character transfer successfully completed at 8:18pm(CDT). This should mean that you simply have need to refresh your character list on the new realm. They way you can do this, is by creating a level one character on the destination realm.

For those of you still experiencing issues with Paid Character Name Changes, we have indeed seen several of these successfully completed. At this point it is no different than the remaining PCT issues.

Once your card is unlocked, Deathmasterr, I would hold off on any further attempts. As to how you should proceed from here, to get this current situation with your credit card resolved, I would highly suggest contacting our Billing department, as they would be able to offer you the best advice.

While I would gladly accept your pie as payment, Elmi (assuming it was Pumpkin Pie), this isn’t really an option. If you were to attempt a deletion of the stuck character it should give you an error similar to that which you get when trying to log in, “You cannot log in until the character update process you recently initiated is complete.” I would strongly urge you, after given the above message, that you do not attempt this though. I shudder at the thought of how that could further adversely affect the situation. I fear that, should you be successful, it would only cause more harm than gain. :0/

We have seen many cases where players have been able to successfully complete the transactions they had started, even after being stuck in limbo, Xìaoxuan. We will get your character back in your control, I give you my word. I am sorry that it is taking so long, though.

Auryk, so whats up? Are the characters in limbo and that are unable to be seen on the transactions page still being moved manualy to the destination realm?

I am sorry for any confusion here, but the characters stuck mid transaction were never being moved manually, Dingbat. Yes, we have been able to get many players who were previously stuck through the finalization phase of the process – this was, however, due to issues on the back end being resolved, and not from someone sitting back there with the “Approved” stamp. :0/

Similar to my stepping in and doing what I can for you guys while Syndri is on her weekend, there will be staff members working on this until it is resolved. Be it over night, or during the weekend, there will be a group of people doing what they can to resolve these problems.

If your transaction is pushed through, you should receive an e-mail stating that "Action [is] Required" for the transaction you are attempting. Once you receive said e-mail, you should be able to continue on with the process. Until you receive that e-mail, though, you are not going to be able to cancel the process.

While our DBAs are attempting to resolve the issues that are surrounding this matter, characters are being “freed” from this prison. It’s not a matter of us releasing those characters, but that their specific issue is resolved – allowing them to get through. There are multiple issues at hand here, and while addressing one very well might resolve the situation for a handful of players, all will need to be taken care of before everyone is able to get through. :0/

Our Billing and Account Services reps should be able to get this situation resolved for you, Danagarde. It may require them to change your registered e-mail address, but they should indeed be able to assist you, mate. I would give them a call as soon as you are able to. :0)

4) One of the reasons it is taking so long to release ALL of the characters and it is seemingly "random" on who gets through and who doesn't is because they are having to go through one by one to ensure each character that got stuck did not lose anything we had when we went into the queue. That makes sense and I'm leaning toward accepting this as a reasonable answer.


I have not yet been informed that our Billing Reps are able to manually process these. I am going to check on that for you guys now, I’ll return when I have an update.

Alright, at this point I don't even want to read over the past 80 plus pages that have formed since last night. This whole situation as I have said before is just getting stupid to put it bluntly.

So please whoever for CM is now moderating this can you please, please! Have either your self or one of the reps working on this problem tell us just what is being done, what has been done and what will continue to be done! We where all told this problem would be worked on through out the night and quite frankly I don't thing a single thing has been done.

I saw a few posts last night that where edited by Rhyer or what ever his name is but not once did he give us any sort of information new or old for nearly 120+ pages of angry customers.

So, again. I ask can we please be informed of what is happening, what has happened, and what will continue to to happen over what I hope for Blizzards sake the next two days at most.

We. Want. Answers.

This time instead of being ignored and skipped over can you please answer this question. I can't even believe I was temporarily suspended suspend for asking a serious question.
