AV afking

I'm sure this has been asked and answered a million times, but is afking in the caves during AV against ToS?

I report every AFcaver in every game I play. At the end of the match I write down the names and realms of every player that is 0 across the board and if their honor is the same as those that were there the entire time.

When I spoke with an ingame GM I asked, "Should I keep reporting them?" and his polite response was basically, "do whatever you want."

Isn't afking an exploit? I mean Blizzard permabanned people for exploiting the spawn time of Jana Proudmore for gold...These afkers are exploiting the battle ground mechanics for badges and honor that is used like gold..

What is the official take from Blizzard?

Yes, it is. You can read more about this in our FAQ here:

do i have to manually leave the BG or is it fine to let the auto afk take care of it?

We will only take action when it's verified a player is completely inactive and unresponsive while in a Battlegrounds match for a longer period of time than is allotted before one is flagged as "AFK" and removed from the match.

Q u o t e:

On that. is using the /afk command acceptable to leave the instance when your in a hurry?

The real world does call. It's perfectly acceptable to use "/afk" to remove oneself from a Battlegrounds match. : )

The mod is perfectly fine to use. Automating a tell response to anyone is fine to do.

A player using that modification to respond to a GM that they are there would still be violating the rule of AFKing and automating the "hardware event" needed to keep the player active. I would assume (and hope) that GMs can see if players are using more than one key to respond to them. :)

This is exactly true. This is why we generally do not comment with great certainty that any third party interface modification is perfectly acceptable to use with the World of Warcraft. While an addon may operate within the guidelines we specify, it may still be used for exploitive or abusive behavior.

If someone is using an auto-response feature to communicate with a Game Master, the chances the Game Master would not catch on are slim. I've spoken with characters using auto-response mechanisms in the past. Believe me, such a mod does not allow for inspiring conversation. ; )
